It's been said numerous times, but you're paying for continued support.

Yes, the game works fine for you, but a PW requires other people. You can look at some of the forums here and see countless issues popping up:
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=15338
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14768

And, sure, there may be solutions at the moment to these things, but the higher the barrier of entry, the less likely there will be a continued population. These issues are not going to go away. Supporting the EE version will help the game last for considerably longer.

If the game can run on 13 year old toasters with about 32.000+ override files for mostly hd textures and pseudo bloom effects as well as shaders. Then you too can run NWN1.

Just saying. The recommendation shouldn't even be a issue.

idk what kind of places or people you've been working with but in my 14 years since I joined the workforce I've never been anywhere where the employee's did not freely trade that information and I've worked at a lot of different places. I've never, ever cared if someone else knows what I make or not. If they judge for it then they're not the kind of person I want to associate with anyway.

I asked if she was getting paid because I know her work is Snuggle a Bugbear good and she deserves to be paid for it.

I also do not appreciate your passive-aggressive parenthetical comments.

Also your TL;DR was longer than what it was summarizing. :?:

Does anyone know if CEP or other fan made mods will be implemented in the production?

"Now that Gamespy no longer operates, unfortunately we can no longer guarantee player names are unique across the community. Your identity is now based around your public CD key (granted through Beamdog servers)."

How does this Effect our Current playerbase? and how is the team handling the transfer of vaults to the new CD-keys? (if i'm reading this right)

You know. Maybe people would be more willing to pay for support if they had not already done that by buying copies of the game from places like GOG. So we pay for it the first then, then a second time, and now a third. How many times are we going to be charged? WHat else are we going to have to pay for?

The ONLY reason for me to play NWN is Arelith. And the ONLY reason for me to play Arelith was the community, not because I support NWN (which I don't). Beamdog is taking it's customers for granted.

I don't mind paying for peoples' hard work and continued support but I don't pay people for planned obsolescence. Nor do I pay people so that they can buy properties, create monopolies on said proporties and keep charging people over and over for the same thing.

I was not disappoint

NWN was on front page of yahoo, in 2017. That's amazing to me. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apos-nev ... soc_trk=fb

I think I bought nwn 3 or 4 times so far since copies got lost in moves, computer swaps etc. Last time it was free, time before was like 3 or 4 bucks lol

I see lots of people asking for requests for this sort of stuff... but without any knowledge of what's going on at Beamdog (but some knowledge from another similar project a few years ago), I can pretty positively say it's going to be a "no." There's some legal issues that can arise from using community content, especially stuff assembled the way the CEP and fan-made mods were, that Beamdog would likely want to avoid. I think their best plan going forward is to just not break the existing mods so they can continue to be used.

When this game was created 15 years ago, there is no way they could have known how hardware and software would progress and willfully planned to ignore it. That is the nature of the software industry.

That would be cool to involve the terrain in rp ...

Got a dwarf or halfling yelling at a human... they grab the guy by his shirt collar drag him over to the nearby rock so they can stand on it and look at the human eye to eye instead of yelling upwards.... it would be cool to actually do that instead of emote it standing next to a rock you can't stand On due to clipping.

While I'm generally excited for the EE, which I'm mentally categorizing as a dev-centric expansion, I admit to feeling some trepidation. NWN has been really "owned," if you will, by the community for years now. The idea of that ownership returning to a business makes me slightly uneasy.

I just keep telling myself that Beamdog isn't EA.

2. Vault wipes? Nope? Unless i'm not seeing something this is all that references anything to do with my question and answers nothing in regards to HOW My character will be transfered to my EE Beamdog Cd:key?

For even more information see beamdog's faq:

Edit: TL;DR. As a player you have to copy in your nwncdkey.ini from your original NWN installation. Everything else is for the server to set up.

IF the game requirements are really what's listed in the page, and not in the Steam store, might try to buy it for windows, and wine it; as I've been doing for diamond edition.

Characters are stored server side. It is literally a matter of copying those .bic files and migrating them over. So nothing to worry about characters.

Scholar previously mentioned how they will tie CD Keys. Which will likely help this migration.

*ahem*

If I'm 100% wrong then please correct me. But I think you'll be hard pressed to find a company whose conduct manual didn't outline specifically that asking other employees what they make is against company policy. I too work in corporate America and that is a blanket no no handed down by HR. Does that mean employees follow the guidelines .. it does not.. can do and should do are entirely different and governed by social and policy guidelines. Maybe I was raised in a different generation or a more traditional household but some topics are not for the dinner table.

My apologies if I imposed my values into anyone here but those were my comments from my viewpoint and they are common viewpoints in society.

This is not a company, nor a dinner table. This is a public forum of discourse, less like Google and more like your local tavern. Even the name of this forum evokes a bar. Relaxed discourse. Where you can ask someone if they got paid for their incredible work.

HR has no hold over us here :)

If Irongron, or any of the main team, were/are being paid by Beamdog then yes- yes it would be good of them to disclose such.

But as far as I know they arn't. So there's nothing to disclose.

(Edit - with the possible exception of Scholar, but we have been informed of that.)

It's really that simple. If I recomend something to friends, then yes - if said company is paying me I should say so. But so long as they arn't paying me, there's no need for me to disclaim anything?

I wouldn't talk about my day yesterday with 'I went to work for yesterday morning then went to weatherspoons for a delcious meal AND THEY ARN'T PAYING ME TO SAY THAT and then went to W.H.Smiths to do some shopping AND THEY ARN'T PAYING ME TO SAY THAT. Then me and my husband went to see Thor: Ragnarock and it was a lot of fun AND MARVEL ISN'T PAYING ME TO SAY THAT.
