You can't take WF/IC/WS in Dwarven Waraxe, but you can take them in Battleaxe, and those feats will count for both battleaxe and dwarven waraxe for dwarves now.

Question:
Will existing dwarven characters with exotic weapon prof and feats related to the dwarven waraxe act continue to act as they currently do? ie will I need to do anything to Sully (fighter/DD) or can I just continue to play as normal and ignore the update with an existing character?

You should be able to continue on like nothing ever happened

Yep, you can still choose Weapon Focus Dwarven Waraxe, and the other feats for that weapon just fine. But you can also choose those feats for Battle Axe now, where they will auto-add the same feat for Dwarven Waraxe on level-up.
The only exception, is the first level, when you take Weapon Focus Battle Axe at level 1, it won't show the dwarven waraxe feat immediately, but it will be added when you level-up to 2, which is a free level, so it doesn't matter. Just in case you're wondering something is off.

Another time it would be off to is for Wild Dwarves
They don't have the stonecunning feat and therefore don't get dwarven war axe prof. However, this is fitting canonically given they don't have familiarity with anything metal.
They probably still do get the dwarven waraxe feats when picking battleaxe feats though.. even if they can't wield a dwarven waraxe without exotic.
