One thing I will say, having recently levelled a character to 30 while doing minimal dungeoneering and writwork, I found being at RPR 40 resulted in him hitting 30 much more quickly than I anticipated. I didn't completely ignore writs; I did more than a handful early on to help get my character money, but I made a deliberate choice at around level 15 or so to rely mainly on the XP tics to progress while I RPed about town. At that point, I would pretty much only take writs the character was overleveled for to make sure my Adventure XP pool wasn't empty.

It did NOT take very long for that 160 per tic to get me all the way to 30. Not necessarily a problem, but it definitely caught me off guard.

Just letting you guys know that the idea was floated up to staff and was rejected at this time.

TO CLARIFY

Irongron said it won't be fully REMOVED. As to whether or not it will be changed or adjusted, I don't believe anything is final.
I believe he's going to make his own post at some point when he has the time, but I don't know.

My mistake then, I look forward to seeing what he has in mind.

I've started playing fairly recently. When I felt I'd gotten my bearings and fleshed out a few characters well enough (and put in a few hundred hours), I submitted a request for review and got RPR 20 in short order.

Had I waited to be noticed, I'm sure I'd never get it, as I generally shy away from DM attention because I have almost no interest in DM-driven content. I am here for player-driven content. Arelith is well-suited to fostering player-driven content thanks to players making up the citizens and leadership of the setting.

It's for this reason that I think it's profoundly disappointing that there isn't more support for players RPR boosting each other. I'm aware that the higher echelons of RPR have the power to -recommend others. The option to -recommend should be available far sooner.

Whether my RP warrants accolade (or shade) should probably be up to the community as a whole (or at least a larger section of it) rather than very few who are unlikely to ever see me or what I might contribute to other characters.

Because I see this repeated several times by now, I feel the need to correct one detail:

-recommend is available to EVERYONE! Only 10->20 autobump is available to 40 and 50 rpr specifically.

However, anyone who sends a tell to another player will see a prompt thanking them for doing so and as far as I know, it will appear for DMs. Of course, it is both a matter of remembering to do this dilligently(as much as I try to remember to do so, I know its not always the case) , and the question of how much weighting/followup DMs put on that, but every little bit matters, far as I see.

If the server's decision is to keep RPB in some form and not followup xDarknessdawns three step suggestions (which I fully support and wish it was simplified like that), then I hope that -recommend is given more attention, and maybe even mentioned in loading screens and/or when making new character.

I had no idea. Limited available information had me believing otherwise.

Yeah I'm not totally sure what the rules and etiquette are at all

Like do DMs give recommends from a character with 20 rpr much weight? I never thought to do it and still not sure if that has any effect as I'm not 30+ myself

Also is there such a thing as recommending too much? I mean if I am recommending every player who gives me satisfactory RP do to DMs really want to see that or do they get irritated?

And what about asking for someone to give you a recommend? Is that bad form? I saw someone ask in the Discord if it was okay to ask other players to recommend them (they were 10 wanting to be raised to 20 IIRC) and it seemed like DMs gave conflicting answers which says to me "better not do it".

The -recommend command has a very, very straightforward functionality.
When you recommend somebody, it just sends a shout into the DM channel saying "player x recommended player y" and adds it to a log.
If you are 40 or 50, it auto-bumps 10 to 20. That's all. Otherwise, it doesn't take your RPR into account at all.

I wouldn't worry about etiquette or its implications - you see somebody with RP that you like, you slap them with a -recommend. It may help them in the long run.
