Chambers of the treasure - Artifacts -

Normally, in the antiquity, the powerful, wealthy and rich have used well protected chambers of the treasure, which was where they were guarding the relics and wealths.
In agreement with this, in all the places where there is a chest with chance to drop artifacts, might add a sancta sanctorum, one where to relocate the mentioned chest, together with the major booty of the dungeon. To the purest style of Ancient Egyptian tomb.
The above mentioned chamber, it might consist of two antechambers and the sancta sanctorum in strict sense. To accede to every chamber, it will be necessary to have a key dropped by each of the mini-bosses of the dungeon (forcing cross it entirely and defeat all of them)
- Those keys will vanish after use -
As a sample, in the Ancient ruins of the First Dwarves…
Key 1 could be dropped by a duergar captain located in the mines.
Key 2 could be found in a archimage duergar located in the deep of the Library
Key 3 (last one), owned by the duergar king.
And how the Sancta Santorum made?
You can just add a secret door (to test the thieves skills), trapped as usual with DC 35+
Then, add a new small map with the proper Sancta Sanctorum:
Three Rooms connected by passage.
- Each passage, with a deadly trap only disabled by DC 35+
- Each room, needing the key (that once is used gets destroyed). As bonus option, for future dungeons (or current ones) these rooms could also require to decypher a riddle or puzzle in order to open it.
- Additionaly, the first chambers could gather "false" chests or chests with a low treasure... to discourage the group or make them think this is all the treasure... the next gate then should be hiden, to make the thieves thinking they already reached the treasure chamber.
- The last room, bigger, with the chests of the treasure and the said one with the artefact.
PROS:
1. This will stop the hiden rush towards the artifact chest.
2. Will defo stop anyone logging off in the chest area and coming back later for more artifacts farm.
3. Will bring some small epic taste, making a bit of Indiana Jones feeling when arriving into the Sancta Sanctorum...
CON: This will require a bit of the Artos13 love (work), to make the treasure chambers.
Cheers
