Might be cool to be able to disenchant magic items you find in the basin? Like get a couple of components for a +1 weapon or ring with an ability +1, get more for an artifact.
Regardless I wish something would be done to enable more liberal use of magic for wizards and sorcerers. Limiting spamming 9th level spells is a good idea but the current forced grind seems like a relic of a time when there were tons of new low level players willing to craft components. Whether it's reducing cost for specialists and focusers and/or making components a thing you can buy from vendors for a whole lot more than they're worth.. I don't know.

Seems like a cool idea to me. It would make scribing certain spells very very strange, though.theCountofMonteCristo wrote:What if more things counted as spell components? (with varying values)
Dragons Blood (could be like 1-2 charges for how common it is)
Beholders Eye (10 charges?)
other similar things?
Owlbears are the only thing keeping Arelith from the D&D experience.

Diamond Dust, Bit of String (cotton), etc. Look through PnP spells for actual components, then give them all a possible value?
