Valdrin Xal'rae's Final Sacrifice Kudos

Post by Xanos950 »

There he goes, i rolled him. To be forever damned and tormented by the Archdevil who may currently be gnawing on his elbows somewhere far away in the Nine hells just so Natharra could hopefully receive the pact-change she deserves.

He was my first ever character since joining the server and he was also a legacy weavemaster, but now he's meeting his old pals in spirit form far away from the promised Demonweb pits, and far away from the abyss.

I feel forced to toss out kudos here and forgive me if i do not mention everyone by name, it is not on purpose, this is all from the top of my head, so if your name is not there and you've encountered him, feel yourself mentioned.
I am sure the nine hells have delivery service, and the appropriate amount of 'raisin' cookies will be delivered in no time as compensation. Gotta be evil after all.
Here we go...

Alahrie: Here is where it all started, the first player i really bumped into in the middle of the streets, and like a lost puppy she basically adopted Valdrin like the good male drow that he was. The character was manipulative and scheming but kind and generous for a drowess which immediately pulled me in, as a fresh player to Arelith. Wherever you are, keep rockin'. But Valdrin finally managed to get himself killed. I know you were protective of him, but now, he finally managed to do the unthinkable.

The Xal'rae: The ENTIRE gang really, too many to name, too many to love equally. but they're amazing how they take you in and then make you a part of the entire noble house thing.

- Malixtra: The Dark Lord of the Sith among the Drow. She is scary, really, really scary but always open for new interesting stories and welcoming to other characters plots and ideas, which is what i instantly loved about her and the player who is by the way, just, the most kind and awesome player ever. Malixtra is what i always imagined to be the superior drowess to be, arrogant, cunning, mighty and surrounded by dread. It doesn't matter if you accidentally summon and free a demon prince upon the Devil's Table (Sorry about that by the way) , this here Matron will STILL give you a pat on the head for a job done semi-well.

- Kren'fryn: The Bromance love-Triangle, man where to start, Kren is awesome, he's a bro among drow and always there when you need backup. If you need help? Chances are the Warlord got your back and then goes to the bar for a drink with you after slicing some fools. Doesn't matter what, he's a true badass. The player is amazing and cool to hang out with, just kinda sad that he didn't witness the end.

- K'yorl: Also part of the kren-val-kyorl bromance. Dude, i'm still mad at you for rolling K'yorl, but now they're both out there somewhere i guess. K'yorl is the kinda drow who invites you one day for some super awesome ritual with an experimental laboratory tube, and you two end up crafting a colourful Bubble-Generator. Yes. he's that kinda bro. The character is pretty sick and always ready to blast some foes to protect his buddies. The player is amongst the most chill to hang out with that i ever met haha, dude.. Log On and Meme On!

- Erelyne: His adopted big sis, ah, Valdrin hated her guts and brat-like behaviour at the start but then just kind of grew used to her antics.. and then ended up enthralled by the depth of her story before finding a liking to her that he did not have to many female drow. In the end, he was unable to keep his promise to her that he'd help fulfilling her dream. But the shadows will rise. Surely. In the end, despite the harsh start of relations.. Valdrin felt a close safety around Erelyne, somewhere in that veil of anger and shut-off emotions. The character is enjoyable to be with and really has this "Mistress" vibe to it that only a few have. Always fun and the player is one of the more hardworking ones on the server, really under appreciated.

- Azária: Little sis, yes there wasn't much beyond the typical sibling interaction, but what little there was, it was great and enjoyable. The player is amazing in her own right and valdrin always had this urge to 'protect' when around her.

- Alvalas: AAAAhhh, Little Spider Sis! Why.. whyyyyy! She's awesome, really.. alas, shared Valdrin's fate. I picture them still sitting on that island near the void, talking and staring into the sun-set until the hells claim their souls and they embrace their destiny, one last time.

- Ryld: Aaah, the cold and harsh druid bro! In a sense all of Xal'rae are total brothers and sisters, but this guy here? He's the damn batman of the drow. He does whatever he does and need to do. And he does it well while being uncaring and overall druid enough to make sense at all times. I really love the roleplay. And hope to see him again.

- Xr'iss: he who rapidly returns just as he vanishes, like the character, they had not much interaction but the little they had, valdrin enjoyed. There's a darkness to Xr'iss that's fascinating.

- Vuz'erin: Man Valdrin never knew what to do with you and your wizardry, but you can bet that there was chemistry and if only for getting advice and other things, it was always fun to just sit there or walk around to kill things.

- Kalista: A rare one in the House, but always eager to shed some blood and burn some surface forests. Valdrin shared this kinda destruction lust but sadly they had not much time to talk.

- Alyara: The little drowess who could? If she only would. One of the more weirder romances truth be told, as weird as drow romance can even go, this one was slow and.. well. Really brief. They both used each other to feel better and get away from others. So in a sense it felt like fitting that he'd move on and succumb to his past. Alyara was fun to be around. Keep the head high and mighty, yer a noble now. You just gotta raise your voice and make it heard, is what Valdrin would have said.

- Sheen & Ja'hai: Not much and only brief, but it was fun to hang out with.

Now the non-house names, sorry if i forgot one, like i said earlier... you'll get compensatory raisin-cookies shipped from the nine hells.

- Xulric: It started out as a hateful hair-throwing competition but ended at a friendly-rivalry after the Xal'rae-Xun'viir war. I don't know why, but Valdrin always liked Xulric, he's chill and cheeky.. you know, but just the right amount? Like sugar.

- Ches'riia: Hope i spelt that correct, too lazy to check. The character is amazing and really invokes this 'priestess' vibe that one would look for in a drowess. What encounters we had, i liked the seemingly common respect that both characters developed and it was really interesting to see everything play out, she did have some impact on Valdrin and it stuck with him ever since.

- Amraphensbane: I probably spelt that wrong but you know who you are! Because i can't spell it. The dark mysterious dude who you just happen to meet in the middle of the sewers for no apparent reason. Though it was to hunt, it still initially made for an unexpected encounter that later turned and developed into what would result in faintly acknowledged buddies.

- Naeriza: Valdrin always admired the great chosen of Kiaransalee and not only because they shared a faith. He felt a guidance in the character that sadly he wasn't able to really grasp for due to the difference in status and social rank that scared him away. Despite that, i liked the character, and pray that she'll return eventually to smite fools for vengeance.

- Natharra: You better be grateful for his Sacrifice, because in the end it was to further your own story arc. Yes, they only met not long ago, but valdrin knew that his past dealings with devils would catch up with him eventually... And he took and used Natharra spontaneously to finally attone for his deeds when they spoke to the devil they summoned. I hope you got from the dm-event what you were after and hope to see you again ingame. I hope she found and got what she was looking for, and hope that Valdrin's sudden sacrifice in the bargaining did not leave a sour taste.

- Khabul: The Merc of the Mercs. The most mercenary of all the mercenaries, the guy in the red hood. The one and only, the halberd dude. Khabul is a great character and really gives credit to the mercenary business, cause it's really just a deal. Valdrin never had many interactions with him, but there was some respect to be found in the sense of what Khabul is willing to do just because the contract says so. You do you, buddy. And never change your colour from red.

- Saul: The kukri human. One of the more earlier names in Valdrin's story, they hunted together and laughed together, Valdrin still felt bad for the dragon incident that one time. No hard feelings?

- Vaeluzir: Also dubbed "The Elusive Archmage", man i gotta give it to you, Vaeluzir absolutely perfected and mastered the art of never being there when you're looking for him. Valdrin admired that, as a fellow lazy arcanist.

- Kalantor: Sorry if the name is spelt wrong, kudos to the weird mysterious hooded drow with the mysterious voice but otherwise useful hastes and other neat gimmicks!

- Rauvlin: Oh boi. Valdrin hated her guts just on principal of .. i don't know, it's those kinda dislikes that you can't explain but it's just there. But then, Valdrin was a Devout Fanatic Lazy Perfectionist. So he kind of didn't really understood why anyone would become a heretic anyway but also didn't really care enough to find out the truth. The character is great tho. xoxo. youre still a heretic tho.

- Arakh: I have to mention him. Arakh is the kinda guys who picks up new people off the street, gives them clothes and at least two or three tasks to do to keep them involved and occupied. Valdrin had a study that Arakh may or may not be a Slaadi in disguise due to his slimey-ness in meetings and politics. But now we will never find out if that research will prove results. The character is great for aforementioned reasons, and really what the sharps needed to rock. Maybe Arakh visits him one day in the nine hells. Who knows. You go and do your thing, because you're awesome!

- Stellen Varg: "Important" Surface Human#043. Or at least that's what Valdrin was told to watch out for when scrying was still a thing. What little surface interaction there was, this guy takes the cake. Even after drunkenly stumbling into a surfacer raiding party, he still marches up and prevents Valdrin being slaughtered in a clear 1vs10, just to result in funny capture-rp and a walk in the sun.

- Jadoth: *Takes a breath.* If elves had a scale from 1-10 of annoyance and sass, which i assure you drow would have such a scale, then this elf would score a solid 7/10. I loved the character for the innocence and playful nature, Valdrin hated the lack of discipline and carefree nature. In any case, it was fun scrying on Jadoth and then making up embarrassing stories when next they met.

- Azrael: You know how many component pouches i was forced to reck because i was told to scry your lovely winged behind? The answer is 3 by the way, i ripped through 3 fully filled pouches through scrying alone... if you cared, but all you care for is Vengeance! The character is great, i like him because when he shows up you know something about to go down and you best not have 'evil' on your sheet if it does.

- Lunarya: What turned from literally finding the corpse of an elf to actually picking up said corpse and hauling all the way back to the mansion for interrogation turned into one of the most brilliant scenes of captivity of an surface elf that i've ever seen, the negotiating the bribery, all was perfect. And i hope you had fun while it lasted because that was quite literally a "Random Encounter"

- Duncan: Same reason same tale, he's the kinda guy who stops surfacers from tearing you a new one and instead makes it funny and interesting, but you can bet he'll shout it at you from 5feet away, and boi is that shout scary and terrifying. Yes, Valdrin met him and he got yelled at, more like 'raged-at' but it still counts! You do you, buddy. One of the humans i'd wish to have had more interaction, same like Stellen.

- Aunilarra: She showed up quick, she showed up suddenly and oh man did she stroll around like she owned the place. Valdrin hated her, he thought she's a nobody drowess trying to fake her presence and quickly shifted his demeanour to a 'spiteful' one. But Aunilarra played the game of drow politics, and she played it damn well. A prove that even if you have absolutely nothing that you can still climb to become an acknowledged though only common house. Kudos to you.

- Bel'or: Insane. Just insane. I love this player's talent of writing and overall knowledge of the english language, it makes him memorable and enjoyable to just sit there and listen to him go on and on about weird otherwordly topics. Valdrin respected him for being the Lord of the Abyssal Citadel and for the knowledge he had as a pacted and summoner of things. Though i believe the character is also (like some here on this list) either rolled or shelved, i hope that we'll have more ingame encoutners because i enjoy every last one of them.

- The Goblins: You all have weird names and i know this comes from a drow but i'm sorry for not remembering all of them. You're a bunch of funny guys and the gobbo-lingo is absolutely delicious. Keep it up. Kudos to all you goblin players out there!

- The Xul'tarr Brothers: Both of you are amazing players and characters. And Valdrin had tons of fun just to hang around you lot.

- The Iron Order of Elven Hugging: You guys are amazing, keep up the crushing embrace on the surface elves!

- All the other drow Houses that i am too tired to remember: Wouldn't be much Xal'rae supremacy without politics, though meetings are boring to sit through. It's always entertaining to just lean back and watch the arguments roll on the table. Drow can be murderous, but the ud-society (though a little whiny at times) is the most reasonable and proper that i've ever seen anywhere.

- The filthy Elves of Myon: Last but not least, everyone needs a sworn enemy to drive himself forward and in this case it was the elves. I love every last one of you pale skinned sun-scarred dudes and gals up there. Reasonable folk the lot of you, even if the capture due to raids can result in rather grim scenes, you still decide willingly to be a part of it and soldier through it. Mad respect. And i hope to see more where that elven pride is coming from!

If i forgot anyone? Sorry, im tired but please feel yourself mentioned :C

You actually did spell it right! Ahaha, I made it on there. That...so hilariously really describes Amra well...

...he's the weirdo you run into in the sewers.

Hm. Well any who, I'm glad to have made it on there. I always found it funny that even though those two met so early on and continued to encounter each other, they never really associated further, or even really leveled together.

R I P one of the remaining weeb masters.

The process of elimination begins. One day, I'll have the only weeb master, even if he's sub-optimal and gift of humility.

The UD has lost a dark, malevolently evil, cunning, plotting and generally monsterous person tonight - I was so proud of him! *clears a tear*
Valdrin remains one of the greatest story of evolution of a character that I've seen in recent Andunor, starting out as Valdrin'zyr'al a humble, quiet, docile male mage who went up from strength to strength. I would never have imagined that same character would be the one standing beside me half a year, to a year later seeing an army of out-numbering elves and going
"We can take them Matron, lemme at 'em!!!". All while being the model of male-respect, bowing with one hand and choking an elf out with the other.

From Demon Lord summoning, to burning the bodies of the House's enemies he had a hand for all tasks and was a pleasure to have in our House - so thank you for making him Tob & looking forward to our next interaction on different fronts!
The door's always open.

And so the world is worse off to lose yet another UD Enchanter, Khabul will miss his giddily psychopathic boy. </3

He's finally gone and will be missed.
Valdrin played a great part in Kren development, one of the characters who gave him a purpose and a reason to get stronger. Thanks for great memories, look forward to your next character!

Of all my encounters with the underdarkers, this was by and far the absolute best. It is still a highlight of my time here, and is the standard I evaluate all hostile encounters by! Don't hesitate to hit me up to chat. I know we've only exchanged a few lines here and there, but I feel like we are friends. I look forward to what you play next, and hope that we're not on opposing sides. If we are though, I will expect great things :)

Didn't get to interact too much with Valdrin, but I enjoyed the brief times Jad and Valdrin sassily butted heads.

Valdrin was a good laugh, a splash of levity in a dark place. Aly will remember both that and that when mad, he could be really scary!

This little drowess can and will, and was beginning to. Don't worry.

Winifred Rhoswen: "He said good things. Even said ye weren't a Paladin when I asked!"
Ryana: "Not a paladin." I'll take that as a compliment.

Damn it, Azária must be cutting onions in stealth mode again... *sniffs* In all seriousness, Valdrin was a pleasure to RP with on both Duncan and Ryld. I will certainly miss their banter and hopefully we can achieve the same level of roleplay on your new character!

I have to admit: I was absolutely speechless, IC and OOC, when Valdrin volunteered for the sacrifice.

He was one of my favorite characters in the Underdark - and very well roleplayed. I really wish we'd have had more opportunities for those long and awesome discussions about law, order and slavery - or pretty much any topic! Sadly a certain petrified and "all holy and stuff" elf will have to find another way to return to life now :D

Anyway. The end of Valdrin's story (and his last words before Baator!) were really epic; Appropriate for a great character like this. Really made me curious about the backstory behind all this.

I hope we get to RP again on your new toon!

Okey. I've sufficiently given thought to losing one of my favorite RP buddies. Seriously I adore you Tobias, but man.. next time can you not do it on my birthday?!?!

Valdrin from the beginning was a love/hate relationship. Him and Erelyne butted heads so many times I lost count. But still managed to always be there when the other really needed it. Valdrin was her comfort and her strength when she couldn't find it. The little games played, the damn bubble tubes, the explosives. The OMG L WORD DISEASE (still my favorite line.) Erelyne is devastated at the loss faced, trying incredibly hard not to kill the one who caused it. I promise one day that oozy hussy is going to die though. I promise!

On an OOC level. You're awesome, funny, a fantastic RPer and an absolute delight to call a friend. I greatly look forward (and having already experienced some RP from your new character) to further interactions as you truly make the UD more fun to play. *hugs for you Tobias*

Rauvlin had a strong hatred for Valdrin on principle, (the La'laskran warrior HATES lazy mages), faith, and for his association with sheen. After the Xun'virr/Xal'rae war, she made a token effort at reconciliation in an effort to get the pair back on vague associate terms to utilize him against the city's enemies, specifically surfacers and Illithid, but quickly gave up on that as it became clear the two would never be able to get along.

I really enjoyed Valdrin, though sadly we didn't get to RP much, being stuck in adversarial positions politically, religiously, and mutually on principle. Hopefully we'll get to RP more with your elf(Teach me elvish pls!)

Interacted with Valdrin twice - once when he was captured and once when I was captured. I enjoyed both interactions! There is nothing quite like being surrounded by drow while they discuss you, and apparently you are deemed as unnecessary so you get a less than friendly dragon dropped atop you - that I'll never forget! A character defining moment - the second time Yeto surrendered to evil peoples and the second time he died because of it - there won't be a third time~

Farewell to Yeto's nemesis that probably didn't know he existed :)

Ok here goes :) Anadra Silvermoon (slave) will surely miss her master Valdrin. Though only RPed together a short while owing to Timezone differences and RL He whipped that little slave into shape :) he's gonna be missed alot. What little I did get to RP with them was great.

The player is truely a great Rper and made things alot of fun. Will miss seeing old Valdrin around skulking round the UD. Just won't be the same without him there.

That being said Kudos to you Valdrin .. and farewell .. and peace where you end up.
