With the announcement made here:
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11035#p106393
We see the stepping down a pivotal member of the DM team, DM Noxt. He has effected many people's lives on Arelith in many different ways but regardless of these differences he's always done so with the best intentions of the server at heart.

DM Perspective
For our DM team, he has provided a sense of direction, as well as holding us each to a firm account on matters of ethics. There is often the illusion that the DM team is an exclusive 'club' that held itself above others though under Noxt's rule we've enjoyed a tight ship. We have had the freedom to enhance the creativity of players, yet never strayed from the understanding that if we misused such power we would be held to account. He appreciated that mistakes may happen but did so with the expectations that they were learnt from.
In short - we were as terrified of him as you all were!

His role to Players
For players, he has played the infamous the role of judicator on settling matters of rule-breaking and OOC disputes, he has taken on one of the most unpopular positions a DM can - something more vital and essential than DM events, or humorous remarks on the forums. Yet he did it, continually without the need for praise, or any provocation.

He has been the model of Lawful Neutrality in my own observations of his performance, an unrelentingly thorough perfectionist in any and all cases he has been assigned to over his time.
A real life Piaro.

He's simply there when needed, and gone when not - without a word or request for anything not essential.

In short myself, as well as many others I'm sure, have found him a motivational character and firmly memorable being of Arelith's life - be it the dutiful guardian of the server, the bogeyman who bans you in the night, or that soulless monster who calls a reset as soon as you've finished your whole day of preparation of areas for an event in an hour.
DM Noxt, it has been an absolute pleasure.
Should any others have any thoughts or memories of his efforts I'm sure he would appreciate hearing them here (even if he remains emotionally unexpressive)!

I think he's one of the few people on Arelith I've never heard anyone complain about ever.
To do that, and be a DM, at the same time. That's pretty epic.

Thank you, for everything.

He was a needed arbiter and his role on the server is the hardest to fill.
I can only hope the person selected for the role can successfully do half of what he did.
Best wishes, Noxt. I can only hope this retirement wasn't provoked by RL crisis.

I genuinly susspect Noxt does not exist as a player, but is in fact some sort of Deity of Judgement and Justice.

Seriously though, the guy was amazing. Absolutly amazing. He'll be very much missed.

Without a doubt, one of the greatest advocates for players. It will be hard to find another like DM Noxt.

Even though this is a joke, I can completely relate to the feeling conveyed.
Noxt managed to become the paragon of what a DM should be in my mind, an abstract ideal we should strive to emulate. I'll feel a bit lost without his guidance.

It's been an honour serving with you. *salutes*

Thank you for the guidance that you have provided me and the insight I should take into DM'ing. While my tenure has been short, your fountains of wisdom and feedback has been much appreciated.

I will take your teachings to heart and continue where you have lead us. The porch light is always on.

Without a doubt a legend of a DM and person. Helped me during some tough times with stuff and did it professionally while still being friendly and warm.

Not enough good things can be said about Noxt
I hope to see you return some day!

Sorry to see you go, and greatly appreciate of all the stuff you've had to do behind the scenes.I Head DM'd on a server that had about 60 players once.

It was hellish. I salute you and the infinite patience it must have taken to field that kind of role on a server with over 900+ unique logins/month.

There's a lot that's so true in this thread, but this comment stand out to me. He was often called upon to difficult judgements, but the consideration he put into this, and how fairly he approached the task was something to behold. He never rushed to judgements, and always sought to be understanding.

Coupled with his incredble ability to root out the truth of matters, and the diligence with which he approached the role he will indeed be very hard to replace, not least because it is a job few would relish doing in his place.

The fairest and most unbiased DM I've ever seen. I've nothing but respect for you Noxt. Thank you for your exemplary service to the server, and being the one to finally completely restore my faith in the DM team.

Wishing you all the best in your next role, be it a player or playing another game. Don't ever change.

I don't have much to add, bar the desire to express a very genuine level of respect that I've never felt for any sort of moderator prior. As someone who's been both punished and found myself in questionable scenarios in the past, Noxt's insight always left a lingering impression on me, and I know that it's inspired both myself and many others to improve as players over the years.

Best of luck, dude.
