Paladin Path Suggestion: Path of the Myrmidon

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Paladin Path Suggestion: Path of the Myrmidon

Post by RedGiant »

There are still a few classes out there who lack a bit of love in the path department. Arguably Paladin is first among them.

People love to play harsh, unyielding, war-like paladins. So, what if we caved in, and just gave them a path which explained all this? Lets put the crusade back in crusader!

Enter the Path of the Myrmidon.

Removes: Lay on Hands, Remove Disease, and Turn Undead feats. (This is actually far more costly than it initially sounds.) Myrmidons don't heal the lame, cure the sick, or even rebuke the shambling hordes of undead with their holiness. They break the enemy.

Gains: Unlimited castings of all weapon enhancing spells (diving favor, bless weapon, magic weapon, deafening clang, greater magic weapon and holy sword). The Myrmidon cuts across the battlefield like a scythe through new wheat; an angelic terror to the unrighteous hordes.

(Again, I'm not sure if its technically possible to make only select spells unlimited. If this isn't possible, an alternate method of executing the path could be an unlimited, yet combat-only spell list reworking similar to the new warlock paths.]
