So logical! Why did noone came up with this before?

Great work, Artos! [EDIT: See below. Artos hands the credits to Seven]

... And humorous

:D

I have to say, it was Seven's idea to merge those two, which was something I hadn't thought of before. Whether folks will take to it, or their brains explode, we'll just have to see. :)

The other one I liked that you suggested was a merge of Heartwood and Myon in some manner. Almost seems like that generic temple outside of Myon would be better suited as the Heartwood. Might see that one after the holidays...

sorry, /derail :)

Whilst I like the idea of merging some things in principle (And I'm sure the new soulhaven looks absolutly awsome!) I'd ask to give a little thought to a few consequences.

To whit - fewer quarters that arn't, in some way, owned by settlments. Which is, IMO, not entirely a good thing. It's important to keep some quarters independent. Especially for somewhere like the grove.

Also - and again tihs isn't a -big- deal but it is a deal - fewer places for Drow to raid. Lots more 'safe' areas on the surface. Is this a good thing?

I realize that tihs sounds like a complaint in a Kudos forum, and please, please dont' take it so. I appreciate the hard work and I'm sure it's absolutly -beautifully- designed. AT some point I can't wait to take a gander! But it does rather force characters into polotics.

No, it's good stuff to consider, and things like Greyhammer are perfect UD bait. The idea of some of these mergers also is to mix up the make-up of the town. I feel like mixing a few elements together may spark more opportunities.

You bring up great points though that I'll definitely keep in mind.

EDIT: Actually, I thought about this a bit more. In this update, none of the housing/settlement permissions were changed. The remote house is even more remote now (maybe too remote), so hopefully concerns of housing being owned by settlements isn't a concern. It's just that everyone's just a bit more smooshed in with each other and you don't have to walk as far to borrow a cup of sugar.

I notice the lift still says it's for goods and supplies, not people. There's literally no other way down to the cave, docks, and mill now. That makes the sign a little silly, doesn't it?

Also, the locked door with no sign or map marker is driving me crazy. I must know what it is... :P

I was initially a little uncertain of the decision, but a quick PM to Artos warmed me up to the idea. I for one welcome Guldorand's new monastic overlords.

Yes. Good. Merge them in one large cleansing fire, and let the forest grow anew, unsullied by the contaminating touch of humanoids. Let all the lands of that which remains brown and green be returned to their rightful keepers, and let the so-called nature walkers fear the awesome power of Toril's simmering rage!

Just checked it out, and I love it!

But one question: does the remote house / grotto still exist, or have they been carved off?

(admittedly, I will miss that particular area!)

I will be watching with great interest to see how the rp goes with the new merger (and any others to come). I'm especially interested in what political fallout there may be to Soulhaven, now that it is no longer its own little "sanctuary".

I have a monk character who already hates what's been done :P.

Great job! I ve been there yesterday, i hope the ammount of people that there was yesterday will keep visiting Guld. And for the RP.... I think it is much better. And the caracteristics of the woodloggers is still there, but it has become a small village! A huge improvement!

hmm... now the monastery is not a "far" and "isolated" place for meditation, apart of any other settlement :_(

But I like the new appearance of Guldorand (unless for that annoying huge giant statue that messes a bit the entrance to Guldorand in my humble opinion)

Overall... NEAT!

It's cloistered. There are big wooden gates and surrounding decorations which show it to be a separate area, and it's a dead end.

If Guldorand isn't far and isolated, then old Soulhaven wasn't either.

That's just like saying the World's Largest Ball of Twine is messing up the entrance of Cawker City, Kansas.

No, seriously. Read this fascinating article. A foot away!

But in all honesty, maybe it's an American cultural thing with small, out-of-the way towns trying to have some kind of "World's Largest (insert local product here)" type things all over the place. Maybe the humor is lost on ya ;)

Also, I was this close to putting a giant blue rothe next to him, but then I sobered up.

I like drunk Artos better. Now I'm going to cry myself to sleep over what could have been. :(

The problem about that giant statue is about space.

The main Guldorand area is not as big as to allow that statue in some harmony, is like "too many things in not enough space", only concerning that statue,

but hey!, is just my opinion bro, as I said, overall the work is impresive, or neat, or whatever I said, and I really like it (unless the messy giant statue  )

Finally got the chance today to roam through the area, and I do have to say... the whole place looks incredible. It has a very tight, Alpine village feel to it, and the layout seems really logical. Plus pulling all the traders into buildings makes sense since, well... snow, and mountains and freezing and stuff. :)
