Spell Componants?

It doesn't make sense to me that spell components are being made by artists only. RL wise and RP wise. To me, that feels more like something an alchemist should be able to do only.
Artistry is about sculpture crafting, painting, jewelry, and design of things well.. considered artistic. It's about design and 'creativity'. It's why most fixtures are either artistry or carpentry (Carpentry is actually considered an art-form and many artists make wooden sculptures these days etc).
Alchemy is able producing items from a chemical standpoint. IE essences, bullets, potion making, etc. It is a mages usual craft or what they usually learn.
By that definition, spell components should be in alchemy.
And just as a disclaimer, I'm not even playing a mage atm. This change doesn't directly affect me.
I hate to say this, but other than knowingly screwing many current mages with this change as spell components will be annoying for them to get now because you can't reallocate your crafting points... This change doesn't make sense to me. What so ever.
My feed back is that I feel the change needs to be reversed. Take crafting spell components away from artistry and give it back to alchemy. That makes logical sense in my mind.
If someone would like to explain the reasoning or an explanation for it goes, I would love to hear it.
