Alright.

I'm quite sure I visited this location before and could get out, but it looks like this time I'm stuck.

How the hell do I get out?

My character (apparently) can survive there indfeinitely, and so far I've been walking in circles going through the same locations. No exit in sight. Also, sand traps start getting on my nerves.

There are, to my knowledge, only two fixed transitions - one that leads back to the town, and one that leads to the final dungeon of the desert. If you can remember where you transitioned in to the lost desert, that same transition will get you out. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of RNGesus.

Well, this is not a very good design... Goes too close to "roll 7 on d100 to win"

I always thought that the merchant caravan should sell lenses for this reason.

I mean, not really? The area with the transition out shows up fairly frequently, you just have to be able to recognize it when it does. And there is, IIRC, a big sign near the lost desert entrance that says, "hey, you might get lost." So that seems like a pretty big hint to bring a portal lens along.

This would be a nice touch, actually. Maybe at inflated prices to punish the unprepared! Maybe they're sticking around because they don't want to abandon their wagon.

Also, maybe we should move this discussion to the thread in Feedback? I'm kinda repeating myself. xD

I've been wandering around for 2 hours, and encountered person who got stuck there for an IRL week. I think I encountered "exit" transition only once and I spawned on the wrong side of it, so city exit was not reachable.

There reason why it is not a good design is because experience is not fun. So making a mistake neither quickly kills you nor puts you into challenging/interesting situation.

Maaan... I just wanted to take a short stroll before taking on the zombies. Took a whole day to get out of there.

I love the lost desert. I disagree with the accusation of "bad design". It is just something different than the norm. Just because something is not your cup of tea, does not mean it is a bad design.

Don't be mean to the amazing devs please.

As a word to the wise, if you dislike the Lost Desert, then stay out of the Abyss.

This is feedback, and devs can speak for themselves if they want.

By the way, in case somebody gets stuck there again, here's how to get out:

Start taking screenshots of area maps, and mark transitions you took. If transition did not lead you to outskirts/ruins, don't take it again.
