Kudos - Va'sarra Xun'viir

I've never written a kudos here before, and I usually stay away from forums altogether in regards to anything RP related, but after putting some thought into the UD and what stories have progressed these past months, I felt like I had to extend some appreciation to a player that I feel has put more effort into what he/she does than perhaps any I've encountered so far. :)

Its one thing to roleplay an amazing character concept, but an even more awesome thing to do both that, and actually involve people in the process, which is something that always amazed me about this player and character.

I tried UD roleplay for the first time ever on Rammus, my goblin, made as a test character to get a feeling for the Underdark setting moreso than anything else, but ended up sticking around on him way into the epic levels, out of the sheer enjoyment of the progressing plot that gripped the UD as a whole at the time. When giving that some thought, one re-occuring mayor character in his journeys was at first Karla Fateheart, who already then always took the time to help out or guide people, and then later the re-dubbed matron Va'sarra Xun'viir, who made sure the setting remained dynamic and at the same time inviting, for both myself aswell as I'm sure alot of other people. It really is an amazing feat to maintain both of those aspects in a single character, especially in an enviroment as chaotic and controversial as that of the drow.

Sure, alot of people in roleplay tend to get hooked on details like racial aspects, "stepping out of the box" with faiths and all that kind of stuff, but in the end, doesn't that give people something to fight for to validate their own IC views? Which in turn, breeds good, dynamic and interesting RP!

Eitherway, a big thank you to the player of Va'sarra for RP so far, and looking forward to more if I've the luck of running into you on Lissandra. :) Kudos!

Going to have to jump on the Bandwagon here. Va'sarra's player has reshaped the way we as a community approach Drow RP. Some aren't in favor of the change, but have to admit that it has made the UD as WBGTD put it: "dynamic and interesting".

This player sacrifices her own personal time to deal with the various plots and intrigue IG. I wouldn't have the tolerance to spend literally 8 RL hours answering every single summons or caller, but this player does for the sake of being inclusive and available.

I have nothing but respect for her and echo WBGTD's sentiments. Hater's gonna hate, but when all is said and done, this character has affected the UD server in a way few characters ever accomplish.

Very late kudos just to agree with the above. Not only is Va'sarra a well rped character, but also the player is super nice and super considerate. Marvelous!

Value of Va'sarra is that in first meeting with her she searches for path to GIVE, ofcourse she also takes something back...but approach is very honest as player obvious knows that when you give people and make them like you, when you get angry that worths 10 times more. :)
The toon has limits and once you cross it you better be away, setting such examples can be very bad experience for those players but its in rising of reputation, I am glad that player is always ready to give second chance to those players and my largest kudos goes to that as Yma said.

Its strange character that many ask how is this possible?! This is where my KUDOS goes to UD players, who recognize someone who would bring more stories to UD as it did and contribute to theirs(I was sceptic myslef). I hope future drow matrons will take the best parts you for sure have and go towards players from their position and not from yourself first as it was in many cases, after all this is just a game, nothing personal, when it starts to be...its not a game anymore.

KUDOS!

Thank you all for the kind words. As rumor has slowly spread, yes, I was planning to roll her and I just did. I was going to make my own thread but someone beat me to it. I prepared a statement for this.

After a month or so of thought and consideration I have decided to roll my character Karla Fatehart/Va'sarra Xun'viir.

To some it might be a displeasing shock, and to others an exciting and refreshing chance to seize opportunity.

I rolled up Karla three years ago, played about an hour or so, and never came back until the beginning of last year. I found that I'd made the character with a natural SR 32 that was no longer allowed on the server, and so I decided to come up with a story about why she had such a powerful boon. All of this was, apparently, the result.

Her story has been incredible to see, play, and watch unfold. Paladin to faithless warrior to slave to wicked priestess to the Ust Ilharess of Andunor, Archpriestess of the newly risen Goddess La'laskra. Truly there is no more story to be told for her and I find that I cannot summon the same creative flow through her that I once could. So I will quit while I am ahead!

To save myself exhaustive time making what would be a very large list of kudos to everyone I've played with, be it friend or enemy, I just want to give a warm thanks to the developers of Arelith as well as those who populate its world, and the DMs that breath unique life into it.

When I first wrote the kudos post, I did so without any idea that you intended to roll her, so I apologize if it drained from the ceremonial atmosphere of Va'sarra's departure. It was not intended to take the spot of a roll-kudos, but rather a simple show of appreciation for a character present. It was not until afterwards that any rumours reached me.

That aside, I really hope that you've alot of good memories from the character, and wish you nothing but the best of luck and enjoyment with future ones. :) Thanks for the good times!

Ha! It's all good. I didn't mean it that way. No reason to have two kudos thread when one is enough. ^^

As much as Azuzu used to like Karla, and grew to hate her (oh man, all the hate) I've really enjoyed watching her progress on an OC level. You did -so- much, starting from very little. Know the back half of her adventuring life we didn't really see each other outside of hostile interactions, but she made so many waves, they'll last for a long time.

Can't wait to see what you make next :D

Thank you so much Azzy! It's been a rough and tumble recent few weeks between us (and co.), and I'm glad you're here to spread the cheer despite all our IG differences. It's been great and terrible, and Azuilah has been an awesome rival and friend this whole time!

Sometimes I have to say I hate that jubilee where significant characters just vanish as an aspirine in a glass of water... ffshhhhhhh

Keep completing the IC history please, because is fascinating and will keep your character immortal, through the roll. (And you may love to read those lines several time away, when you hardly may recall the detaills).

Hail you, the first human made drow matron! 8-)

Cheers

Va'karla was the bestest adopted mum anyone could ever ask for! I've got nothing but respect and admiration for all of the work you did over the months as a player when it came to running plots and schemes, and just generally making so much awesome atmosphere and roleplay for the entire Underdark.

But not only that, as a Character, Va'sarra was just like oh man, so good. I suck terribly at given much deserved kudos and always end up waffling. Everything was always perfect, always on the edge of your seat, and always great fun and awesome to watch and interact with.

Although pretty said She's gone, I can't wait to see what your next creation is either!

I made an account just so I could post on this thread for Va'sarra.

I haven't played on arelith all that long. In fact, Va'sarra was one of the few people/characters I met when I made Faeryl. At first I was judgy, because hey, a human being the first drow matron was kinda weird. However, it didn't take long for me to catch on that this person/character was really shaping the Underdark, and her RP was phenomenal.

Eventually, both IC and OOC, I started viewing her as a Drow, instead of a human pretending to be a drow. Because she was such a great leader and had the well-being of drow at heart. Not only that, she attempted to drag everyone she encountered into RP, and not just UD races.

She included people, was a leader, and a darn fine RPer. Her shoes will be very tough to fill for the next First Matron. And I really hope I'll run into the player again someday, on her next character.

I hope you don't forget where the sun doesn't shine, Karla! Or your brief "batty" friend. :)

Thanks to all of you for making me feel like Kar'sarra had an impact somewhere. It means a lot.

I'll try and continue on the journal now and then when the mood strikes me!

I think Va'sarra just embodied and empowered Andunor. Like the whole point was to have a modern, more accepting Underdark whilst not being a hug box, and she as a matron did that really well. She made Andunor a little bit terrifying! I wasn't around for Udos Dro'xun, and I bet matrons in Udos were brill, but Va'sarra was the first true Andunor one. For that she'll be remembered. It's inspiring to see someone's story play out like Karla's has, massive kudos to you, Karlaplayer!

Well, Karla the character, certainly made a major impact on two of my characters. First, Xalanthia to this day, has been exiled from all Table lands, lost most of her holding and in fact, the faction quickly died out, the minute the dreadnought got taken off her. The spectacular rise and change in power, taking out, one after another, faction in Andunor to carve their way to the top, was a remarkable event.

Then, I also have to say, with regards my Ghaunadaurians, it has given us the space, we really never had before surrounded by Llothites in the past, to start to germinate and grow into what is the start of an interesting House of Slime. Under Karla's leadership, there has been some amazing balance of power changes in Andunor.

Then there was the huge Banite battle for control of the Sharps and the changing of the guard there, again, through a great deal of House Xun'virr's handiwork. So yes, definitely a Kudos goes out from me also as Va'sarra really got the sleepy world of the Underdark, back to where it should be, a dangerous place to live, with things and death Lurking around every corner. Thanks for the fun times!
