I'd say +4 still. Unless you expect every character to have the dmg reduction and for you to barely ever crit.

When going against an opponent with 5/- DR, 1d6 fare better than flat +4 when using a weapon with a crit threat range of 19-20 and crit multi of x3 or less. (I'm thinking fists, throwing weapons, non-WM builds using halberds, heavy flails, clubs, light mace, and etc.)
Dirac has done the simulation and shown me some of the results on Discord.
However, flat +4 is probably still the way to go, since, as stated above, not everyone or everything you go up against will exactly have 5/- DR, or even 4/- DR, maybe even less. We're not certain which range of DR will still be true for the 1d6 to perform better than flat +4. Not yet anyways!

Alright. So I'm not gonna do graphing and stuff, I'm just gonna break it down to short-term odds.
50% of the time, 1d6 will do less damage than +4.
16 and 2/3rds percent of the time, 1d6 will do the same amount of damage as +4.
33 and 1/3rd percent of the time, 1d6 will do more damage than +4.
So in exchange for doing less damage 50% of the time, 33 1/3rd percent of the time you will do more, and 16 and 2/3rd (the remainder of the other 50%) you will do the same.
On WpM builds using weapons with higher damage multipliers, over time this probably means +4 will be superior, although over extremely long periods of rolling it looks to me as if it should even out (with "random streaks" affecting the perception of most through observational bias).

Bane's tyranny is known throughout the continent, and his is the image most seen as the face of evil.

all'right thanks.
http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Threat_range
i'll go with +4 on:
"Kukri,
rapier,
scimitar" and
"Crossbows,*
dagger,
heavy flail,
swords "
and
I'll go with 1d6 on on "All others."
or am i understanding it wrong?
