It would be nice if, instead of expending a lot of effort/points cutting raw gems, we could smash them instead. Doing this is a much lower DC but only yields gem dust. For lower DC gems, the number could be higher, but as you go up the amount of dust yielded could decrease.

I don't want to do this, not because it is bad idea as such, but rather because we should limit the crafting recipe book wherever possible. The utility here is not great enough to justify all those new entries. Rejected.
