Familiar Rework

For familiars, I suggest a rework of the rework.
1) Scalability. I lament the loss of scalability. In essence, anyone who dips into the sorc/wiz classes...even for the three levels of mischief...has as powerful a summons as Thoramind, whose been with his homonculi for decades. Perhaps a simple skill boost? +1 per sorc/wiz lvls to relevant skills?
2) Differentiation. Yellena's original categories were fine, yet when they have no real skills and barely useful abilities, the idea falls apart. Perhaps rework all familiars to do one or two things well? Perhaps not to the epic-epic rogue level, but give each a flavor. The Imp sets traps (has one or two in inventory). The pixie opens locks. The pseudo dragon spots. The panther parries [or whatever]. etc. etc.
