Can mass craft recipes be valued at least 500 gold for godsaves?

I failed the 10x greenstone recipe 3 times in a row, and once more when I tried it the next day. That's 40 greenstone gone, and no chance at godsaves. Could 10x crafting recipes have their value upped to 500g so they can trigger godsaves?

Or remove failure on 1s?

Just in general, I feel like failing on 1s is too likely. That means all characters, no matter how good at a craft they are, completely fail 5% of the time, which is a tremendous amount. A master carpenter doesn't just fail to cut one leg to the right length, or fail to hammer in one nail. They fail so thoroughly, 5% of the time, that they destroy everything that's being used to make the table.
Perhaps on a 1, a single piece of the material being used is destroyed? A single raw greenstone, or a single piece of hardwood, or a single adamantine ingot. That would mean you can still have to stop and get new materials sometimes, but also means that all the effort you put into getting those materials (hours of play, and lots of gold, potentially) isn't just lost entirely 5% of the time.

This is essentially why critical failure on 1 outside of attack rolls isn't a thing in D&D, but seems to be a very common house rule many places, like Neverwinter Nights.
I absolutely agree, though, it seems silly that a master crafter could mess up an entire project completely.

This is a good idea. The mass crafting wasn't in there when this no save thing was created.

1's might be better as " You failed to start the craft" but the materials would still be fine.

Another idea: Instead of losing materials, or losing a single material, what about losing crafting points equal to the DC, up to 50? You try to create a 15 DC item and fail? -15 crafting points. Try to craft a 54 DC item and fail? -50 crafting points. There's still some penalty for rolling a 1, but not anything that isn't fixed by going and going something else for a few minutes or a few hours.

Great idea...all my support

I think destroying a single ingredient at random is probably the most realistic representation. I actually recommend watching "Forged in Fire" to see top level (and not so top level) craftsmen at work. Gave me a lot of insight into blacksmithing RP and what the various mode of failure might be.
