Shifters and AB

Post by Drak »

Hello,
I would just like to leave some feedback in my time spent between a level 25 Shifter, and several builds tested on the PGCC.

PROS:

The class is great, its fun, and very versatile. I love how there are forms for different scenarios.

The AC in almost all forms is incredible

CONS:

The AC in almost all forms is incredible.

Attack Bonus....goodness gracious the attack bonus! Unless I specifically build my character for one or two forms, the attack bonus is awful. While I can handle hitting most mobs, any kind of end-game boss or any PvP involvement and I miss every attack that isn't a 20. When I get my end-game forms, the highest attack bonus I will have is a 35.

I guess in summary, I wouldn't mind giving up some of their AC to gain AB that is actually on par with other classes.

To put it simply...shifter itself needs a lot of work to be good...
And its...too much work...you have so many forms and builds...its nearly imposible to balance it properly...
Its nice RP choice but I dont expect any changes to shifter at all...

Their AC is definitely not incredible unless you take a tumble class or monk. Unless I am missing something?

There are a lot of slight improvements that could be made to make the class a bit more viable but it could do with a fundamental rework. There are just so many weird bugs and it’s so clunkily executed.

Fixing all spell and abilities (both DC, scaling damage, duration, uses/day etc) to run off shifter and druid levels would go a long way. Granting ab bonus from wis modifier while shifted would do a world of good (obviously: disable any monk bonuses in this case). Making shifts fast/free actions would make some of the niche shapes more viable as you could shapeshift, use the desired ability or immunity and quickly change shapes to something more viable (this could be limited to shapes you have infinite uses/day or some such).

Buttom Line: it’s a lot of work for a class the devs want to be rare and with a lot of potential to be used in ridiculous and unimmersive ways
