Npcs retirees over age

As Arelith is 127 years old...
Could those npcs of shorted living races being gradually replaced?
Aka: npc humans who were in the server since it started.
I know about "magics", but may be more immersive, logic and also increasing feeling of history if those who should be already dead by extreme age were... retired along the time.
At any speed rate... one npc per month? Great!
About some special things, as the Ferries, may make sense if Laurick was replaced by "Laurick's pilot" or something like that... Laurick became the owner of his service company, so now the pilot of the ferry is an npc employe by him or by his lineage.
PD. How epic could be as player be allowed to say... I came to Arelith during the youth days when Lauricks piloted the Ferry to Cordor...
I was here when Westin got assigned to the Arcane Tower depot...
In the old times of sargeant Reginali I joined the Cordor Guard...
