The chasms which are located in that writ are bugged and the rock which is to be lasso'd to get across is far too out of range of the lasso.

It is for the first two chasms which you come across. The one with the zip-line works fine.

You use the lasso to reveal the spot, then just click on the spot on the other side without using the lasso and let your PC act - which should end up with a chat with actions.

At least as far as I recall.

Recently been there, It all works.

In my case, and my party's case, we did all that, we used the lasso on the rock, yet it was far out of range.

We just ran up to the edge and did nothing when we let our characters do their thing.

Edit: Just wanted to add that DM Hoodoo was the one who I contacted during this bug. He may attest to my claims.

The lasso can only be used in specific location. If your Search/Spot score is high enough, a floating text will appear when you approach one of these locations. Using the lasso in these locations will make a hookable element appear, like a rock or a ledge. If you click (just click, don't use the lasso again) on the element you will fling the lasso, putting the location DCs against your Rope Use skill.

So it is not a lasso you need to use again, for the rock that was there? Just clicking it worked? That is highly strange and not explained anywhere. Not even DM Hoodoo has told us to do so.
