Couple the old -Surge with -Fate

*EDIT* Well, with a massive facepalm I'm...just flagging this whole suggestion for being deleted. I tried to do it myself but couldn't find a button for it.
As the reply post below points out...-fate ALREADY does what this suggestion put forth! I assumed that wasn't the case and hadn't play tested it.
I do believe there are some other changes that would be prudent, but those are better suited to separate posts. Sorry to waste everyone's time here...my face is red.

I recognize the need for limiting the use of -surge. It was an easy way to get extra spells which was a huge advantage. The issue is...Now it takes twice as long to use -fate, because a first level spell has to be activated in order to make the fated surge activate for certain.
Wild Mage was in need of balance, but currently...it is a less reliable Wizard. The good surges are less potent, the bad surges are JUST as debilitating (sometimes flat out leading to the caster's death), and ultimate ability is a fraction of its old effectiveness. I honestly believe that, given how it is used, the only reason -fate DIDN'T have a guaranteed surge effect attached to it was that the class already had free-action -surge to make that happen. Now, however, that is no longer the case, and in order for the chaos mastery ability of -fate to be used at an effectiveness matching the huge level investment needed for it, a guaranteed surge effect is required as part of the ability.
Tag the effect so it doesn't refresh spells when used, if need be, but I honestly think this will strike a better balance than what is currently in effect.
You shouldnt have to cast Nahals before -fate to get a surge. Using -fate should automatically set you in surge mode for your next spell.
