Bardsong and recast

Currently using bardsong has 1 minute duration before bonuses from feats. If you cast it again within that minute to refresh the duration (like you can do with pretty much every other ability in the game) you get nothing. I suggest a change identical to the one done to divine might/shield in that regard. Make it so casting bard song overwrites the previous timer.

Isn't this a suggestion?

We're not allowed to make suggestions. :(

".....In the meantime please feel free to continue to use our 'Feedback' forum to discuss Arelith systems." - Irongron.

It is a suggestion, but I guess I'm more addressing it to playerbase input at this point. I'm also curious whether or not it is intentional for some reason, if anyone knows. Its open for discussion and I may not even suggest it once the suggestion forum is unlocked, if I've changed my mind.

I believe the reason it's the way it is, is because of the way it distributes temporary hit points/curse song does damage.

If you allowed bards to spam bard song and/or curse song before it ends, theoretically you could gain massive amounts of temp hit points or do massive damage to opponents.

I think you are suggesting that refreshing the song would only reset the timer on buffs, but I guess you would have to ask the devs if it's even possible to separate the hit points from the buffs of a bard song.

If it is possible, that would be a cool QoL change for bards, but if it's not, I think you could see how bard song spam could be problematic.

While I found the change to Divine Might Shield to be very desired I've never really felt like I needed such while playing a bard. By end game its lasting for 10 minutes and typically it doesn't upset the action economy of the bard to have to cast it once the very obvious graphic fades.

For Divine feats you're looking at a loss of potentially 10+ AC which can have you killed quite swiftly if you forgot to refresh it before the combat ends.

Given all of the other abilities tied to Bard Song as mentioned above it seems like a lot of work for what I've never found to be an inconvenience. My two shakes!

Yes, I'm suggesting that the new cast will entirely override the previous one in all aspects of it. And as for curse song, you can already spam it for the damage but.. it's not a lot of damage and it's a full round action even if you're hasted.

Honestly, 48 damage per round in an AOE is far from problematic. That's less than a wizard can output with a single fireball per round and that's unhasted. Same goes for the healing. As long as the temp HP doesn't stack it's just 48 temp HP per round in an AOE, a very budget circle of healing that also ties up the bard doing nothing but casting bard song.

What I'd also like to see along with this is the highest level bard song sticking, similarly to how zoo spells work.

Currently, someone with a 3 level bard dip can drop their bard song and entirely negate your big bard energy level 30 song.

Or if they curse song first you can't bard song, or has that been fixed?
