Odd thing with Wild elves/Wolf totem.

Okay so I'm trying to make a wild elf druid of the wolf totem. Yet once I get pass the gifts, and select the wolf path I lose 2 STR, DEX and CON. Yet in the wild elves racial window it states that you gain 2 DEX and lose 2 INT, and when taking the wolf path you gain an additional 2 DEX so it says nothing about losing stats.

My starting stats were:

STR: 8
DEX: 10
CON: 16
INT: 14
WIS: 16
CH: 8

After picking con/wis gifts:

STR: 8
DEX: 10
CON: 18
INT: 14
WIS: 18
CHA: 8

But once I pick the wolf totem path:

STR: 6
DEX: 8
CON: 14
INT: 14
WIS: 18
CHA: 8

I assumed that it would more look like this:

STR: 8
DEX: 14
CON: 18
INT: 12
WIS: 18
CHA: 8

Granted I tested the build on the PGCC server before risking it on the main servers. I don't really understand how this all plays out, so I'd love for some explanation.

"On making a bargain, your PC permanently loses 4 points of Strength, Dexterity and Constitution."
From the wiki.
The trade off for having a much weaker normal form is that your animal form will be more powerful.

On top of that the totem you have chosen (wolf) grants +2 str, +2 dex, +2 spot, +2 hide, +2 move silently.
You'll notice you lost 4 from con and only 2 from dex and str in by the end of it.

Totems are very frail in their normal form and typically spend every fight shifted. Because of the way STR, DEX and CON work vs WIS, INT and CHA, usually on a totem druid I go for high WIS + INT so you can have lots of skills and good spell DCs, because the other stats will become great when you shift anyway and your base str/con/dex has no affect on your shifted stats.

Oh okay. But then what about the INT score? Not like I'm complaining about it not deducting, but it still threw me off.

Erm. Hm.

I .. don't know. Wild elf should lose 2 int, I think? That's pretty weird.

Oh! I think what might be happening and it threw me off too when playing with new drow.
The racial stats get applied in character creation now instead of after by picking through a menu, so your int might already have been modified to begin with. So raising it to 14 might actually have been raising it to 16 if you weren't a wild elf. Maybe?

Possibly.

That would explain a lot.
