Language Synergy (And Anti-Synergy?)

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
    Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Language Synergy (And Anti-Synergy?)

Post by Mythic »

Languages that are learned should give a passive increase (Or Decrease) IN learning bonus for certain other languages.

++ = Synergy increase learning either way
// = Synergy Decrease learning speed either way

Elven ++ Sylven
Elven ++ Xalnaress

^ These share their roots.

Abyssal // Infernal // Celestial

Though an argument could be had for having Abyssal and Infernal boosting one another. Having it slightly harder to learn Celestial if you know either, or vice versa feels thematic

Dwarven ++ Jotunn

Apparently the Dethek (Written) Words share roots?

Gnoll ++ Abyssal
Gnoll ++ Animal

Gnolls have demonic origins and are bestial in nature.

Goblin ++ Orcish

I see where this comes from, but there arn't really any plans to change languages at present.
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)
