Gem Pouch + Scales = Too much gold

I used a gem pouch on scales in Guldorand, and received the following.

I noticed immediately there's too much gain from a pouch I had. Some gems were left behind so I scaled again.

I acquired more gold than last time from considerably smaller count of gems.
Expected result?
Nothing like this.
