I apologise if my viewpoint of ignorance is all to apparent, but I've found black scorchmarks placed all over the map, such as in the Arelith Forest or in the upper floor of the Nomad and am a little bit annoyed that they can't be investigated. I'd want to have my character inspect them and get a bit of a guess as to what caused them.

Most of them are meant to mark where traps are, were or could be.
