The items that go into this drop off creatures unidentified, and without the lore skill, these just clog up your inventory. I know you don't need much lore, but to get ~+5-10 lore just to identify vendor trash really punishes those that don't put in the points early, or sacrifice precious gear slots (spellcraft, discipline, etc) for lore.

You shouldn't need to be a trained professional to know that these things are pieces of jewelry, as that to me is just common sense

Everyone should have lore investment. Especially enough to identify jewellery as lore is needed more than ever.

But the system itself won’t recognize the unidentified object to put it in.

Rejecting as the function of the cases still works.
