I installed my copy of EE on a new computer, but I can't access any of my characters.

I remember that when EE first launched, there were problems with CD keys being tied to player names, and the fix for that was to move your old nwncdkey.ini file into the EE folder. I've done that, and still nothing. I've been trying to fix it on my own for the last half hour, but understandably there's not much Google-fu I can do for a minor database issue that was resolved two years ago.

What should I do next?

Where did you originally buy your copy of EE from? was it Beamdog or directly from Steam?

Beamdog. I bought it when it first became available, and then installed it on Steam with the key they provided.

Make sure you validate your keys.

If you first created characters on Beamdog, and downloaded Steam, they would be pointing to the Beamdog key. You can figure that out from their website.
