Most places are set with portal or boat,

Those who are somewhat left hanging: Myon, Bendir, Grove.

Easy fix, Make forest portal two way.

p.s. Still thinks caravans shouldn't be time bound.

The Grove isn't a settlement and probably should remain somewhat "out of the way".

Bendir has the Earthkin Portal, which allows the people who should be hangin' there easy access to a boat. Not a halfling, gnome, dwarf but still insist on being a Bendirian for some reason? Sorry, you must be this short to ride.

Myon is a short walk away from a 2-way portal, but is generally shafted. Nu-Guldorand should fix that, however, as the word around town is Myon will have an "Earthkin Portal"-esque link to the elven quarter of the new city.

I mean, the falls is what 3 screens away from myon? I find it to be less of a hassle then getting to the one in the krags from Guldorand. The grove may have I think two more screens but the distance is about the same as it is from myon to the falls if you are counting steps (please don't.) Bendir Village I agree with, though I don't think it needs a portal as much as it needs a scheduled caravan like the one between Cordor and the tower. No one is going to memorize the -other- caravan schedule (no one sane at least) and they don't even tell you when the next one is until after you give them gold. Without fail its always 8 plus hours too, where I could generally get to my desired destination and back two times over, but I have notoriously bad luck.

Bendir is also 3 instances away from the Arcane Tower. Just saying. Not even overly long instances too!

There are essentially two portals in brog if you can access them. Another reason gnome is the best race to play !

So a few things..

1. there's an approved suggestion somewhere that the caravan will work like the cordor-tower one. Every 3 hours you can depart with it at any point in the hour, no need to get a ticket in advance and will work during night as well. This should help a lot.

2. Bendir has a portal, one screen to the west, right by the transition.

3. Myon shouldnt have a protal and Myonians shouldnt want a portal around their Mythal I'm pretty sure.

4. The grove has the shallow-wood portal.

I assumed they were talking about outgoing portals.

The bulk of Myon's players have actually, historically, not even wanted a Mythal (nobody hates Myon's Mythal more than Myon players do, lol) - so that's not really a great rationale. Pro-Mythal Myon players have always been a vocal ultraminority.

Do they know that if they don't have the mythal, Myon will come crashing down?

Or do you just mean having a normal settlement on the ground?

I meant the NPC population but lets not make this about the mythal.

And if we're talking about a portal source specifically... yeah, I guess it would be cool if there was one around Shallow wood, or if the portal in shallow wood will be two-way again.

While the convenience would be allowed for, It is unnecessary.

Both Myon & The Heartwood are meant to be places of mystery and wisdom, going all the way back to the origins of the server lore and the creation of Myon inside the forest guarded by isolation and wonder.

The Elves, especially, are patently designed by both lore and nature to be secretive, hiding away in their city on high, looking down. This breeds alot of different mentalities, like the Elven purists who wish to see other races as nothing more than short lived underlings, and then those who would share that wisdom as stewards for the future.

This constant, naysaying and attacking Myon, IC and OOC is quite frankly disgusting. It's one of the more aggravating parts of the server that gets me a bit up in arms, not only because I do play an elf, but it shows a complete disregard for the lore as to why those portals aren't closer.

Would it be more convenient? Of course. But that doesn't make it fit within the narrative. Besides, plenty of Druids and Elves are Conjurationists and Transmutationists. There is no lack of ability to bring people in, or leave at a whim.

Limiting the amount of public source portals is essential to maintain any kind social aspect in such a large world. I have no plans to add more.

I like seeing people actually walking down the roads on occasion. I also like the fact that all the more tedious places to travel are further inland, don't forget, there is a caravan system. If you're in that much of a hurry to get everywhere there is still an option for you to do that, but it will either cost you 2 feats for Greater Spell Focus Transmutation, or a couple thousand for a Portal Lens. I'd be quite fine with boats also being time-bound, as long as they're willing to cast off at night.

In truth, you have at least an arrival portal in Shallow wood, for the Heartwood Grove. And a two way portal up north a few squares in Minmir's lake region.
Bendir has an arrival portal west in the gorge region.

That being said, anytime there has been two way portals there has been a considerable amount of focused travel, guarding, and ganking. Naturally the distribution of these portals are as intentional as possible to allow some ease of travel, with the above mentioned means to arrive at your intended locations, without inviting a greater amount of traffic.

If anything a common way to mitigate feeling at all stranded is by casters and their ability to either Greater Spell Focus, or Epic Spell Focus the Transmutation school, allowing for portal and transport for individuals and groups at will. And these cannot then be used by opposition forces to then either invade, camp, or cause added stress to a region.

Most portals, save for a few in the Underdark, are freely available for use by all players, regardless of alignment, creed, class, etc. As Irongron has stated, there is no present incentive to create more, or especially create more for a certain 'type' of character in the above suggested limitations.
