Before I began some pre-work grinding, my cloak was at 15 charges. Approximately 40 minutes goes by and it alone deteriorates and pretty heavily - down to 7 charges. I've noticed that happen before, but chalked it up to the madness of entropy. However, is this actually intentional someway or is the system glitching? Today alone is a 1/5,764,801 chance of happening (i.e. only the cloak deteriorated and 8 times in a row) when considering I had all equipment slots fill (ignoring jewelry, of course).

Fairly sure its random. Had a new character buy a brand new maul from an NPC the other day, and it lost a point of durability on the first swing.

I think it's tied to your attacks. When you attack, a roll happens, and there's a small % that something in your gear will lose durability. afaik it's random. Like.. when I played a monk I had to fix all my gear every few days.

can confirm my mage characters virtually never ever had to repair anything, so being tied to attacking makes sense.

It’s random, it’s tied to attacking/being in combat. Some characters seem more unlucky with their eq in my experience

IT is a random chance tied to you making a melee or ranged attack against anything. This chance applies to everything you're wearing, including armor and equipment. Two Weapon Fighting characters, and monks, will objectively go through equipment faster than casters, who are not in the business of making attacks.

The fact that ONLY your cloak appears to be deteriorating does seem odd to me, since it's generally spread out across all your equipment, but it's hard to say without further testing. If it continues to be the only thing that changes, I'd suggest filing a bug report.

I had the same happen to my adamantine bracers initially after getting them on one character and elven boots on another.

It seems to have a higher chance of effecting something with more charges, or at least more charges than everything else. Once they got beat up some, or I repaired everything else it evened out again.
