This is the second time a shield has disappeared out of my inventory because of the same issue with an overstocked inventory.

How to Reproduce

Tower shield in hand (Probably works with any shield, but Its always been a tower with me)

1. Your inventory must be full to the point that you cannot store the shield from your quick slot.

2. Attempt to Store the shield and get the "negative storage sound" Your shield will now be floating in the air, but you can pick it up, and it will appear back in your hand. Things look fixed at this point. But its now bugged.

3. Empty your inventory so you can un-equip your shield. Then store it properly.

4. Continue about your business. At some point during a transition or something (unknown) the shield will disappear from your inventory.

Once you get that negative sound for storage. The shield that gets auto dropped and then retrieved days a numbered. I've reproduced this bug twice.

It's a hard-coded issue, sadly. To alleviate the bug and to avoid being totally screwed, place whatever item was dropped out of your full inventory into an inventory that isn't a player's (e.g. container, bank vault, dead monster/NPC's inventory, writing barrel, etc.). Relog for good measure after you've done the aforementioned.
