Heya.

Bastard Sword, katana, and war mace share similar statistics, 1d10 slashing/bludgeoning and 19-20 x2/20 x3. All three require the exotic feat and all three can be -twohanded. The main difference between them is the focuses they fall under. Bastard Sword and katana fall under both 1-handed edged and two-handed while war mace is only grouped with 1-handed concussion.

This seems like a slight oversight as war mace should likely be grouped in two-handed as well as 1-handed concussion.

Thats all.

It wasn't an oversight. The concern from the team was it'd then allow 2H weapon group to be the most versatile weapon group out of all weapons with the investment of 1 pre-epic feat into exotic weapon. With the introduction of cavalry proficiency that obtains access to all 3 weapons for free, it is discouraged even further to do so.

If 2H focus were applicable to war mace, the group would include:
1H slashing and bludgeoning with a shield or 2H slashing and bludgeoning

Let's compare it to other weapon groups -
Polearm:
1H spear (piercing) or 2H piercing and slashing (or halberd's bludgeoning with a very specific loot, naginata being Slashing/Bludgeoning)

1H Edged: 1H slashing and piercing with pseudo 2H, no AB boost

1H Concussion: 1H bludgeoning and piercing with pseudo 2H, no AB boost

As you can see, the main comparison was the polearm group where the 1H only had access to 1 damage type/weapon/threat range.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the weapon foci group change was introduced soon after Arelith's transition to haks but before the new weapon types were included. 2H wasn't separated into bludgeoning and edged due to the lack of variety at the time.

Indeed, though now that there is a larger variety of all three damage types I do wonder if it would be a good idea to split them, given that 2-handed's versatility is already rather large.

Slashing/Bludgeoning with one-handed options for slashing, as well as a +4 AB option where the maul is concerned. But that makes sense. Thank you for the response!

Warmace is strong. Considering it's x3 it would be the only x3 one handed that you can easily switch with a two handed weapon too or a addy shield

I don't think the concern for its placement is valid. The feat tax of exotic is fairly prohibitive.

Keen for some additional 2h options then. I'm not seeing it being really worth it as things stand as there are many very nice choices for 1h, but a very limited selection for 2h builds, as the only "good" ones are race locked.

woops this is polearm xD

Really nice Keen 2h weapon which isnt lock behind any restrictions. Carry around skleens/stone of Pale blue and Dusty rose. Use the pale blue when you're wielding a shield - use the dusty rose when you use this Maul that caps your str.
