Spells that might be (unintentionally) UNSCRIBEABLE

I've been playing my first wizard in a while and noticed some spells that can't be scribed and some of them I can't really see why. So this is my attempt at documenting those that are not by reckoning. Feel free to add any others you've come across [even if they're not wizard spells either]
I also hope where there might be a reason, that, at least for the arcane mage spells we consider adding them to a "you can scribe them but you can't fire them" category at some point. Some spells like Greater Sanctuary are prohibited for "obvious" reasons but if we can somehow make the UMD aspect not fire they could still be shared by wizards. I know you can find Gsanc as loot and it is disabled, would be nice to see it enabled.
Spells so far:
UNDEATH TO DEATH (no idea why but this one can't be scribed)
FREEZE (new spell, can't be scribed, might because it is new)

Some spells cost components (not spell components) to scribe. One of those spells miiiight be one of those two you mentioned.

I wouldn't know. I have 5 full pouches of components & dragon blood too.
Those two spells just go: Failure - item creation not successful.

They're FOIG components similar to the "keys" that give you access to the different planes.

IIRC Undeath to Death has some sort of hard coded bug that makes it so it can't be scribed by arcane spellcasters but CAN be scribed by clerics (and maybe FvS, assuming their various item creation bugs have been resolved by now). I can't seem to find the wiki article about it anymore, but if memory serves, I read that the issue was something that the team was unable to resolve.

Certain Spells require an additional component to be scribed, which is consumed along with the Blank Scroll from your inventory. What components are needed for which spells is considered Find Out In Game information. Spells requiring a component are:
Firestorm
Greater Restoration
Harm
Storm of Vengeance
Time Stop
True Seeing
Undeath to Death
Note the Bug with Cleric Domain Spells and Item Creation Feats and the Undeath to Death & Remove Blindness/Deafness Scribing Bug listed below. Also, Greater Sanctuary is purposefully impossible to scribe.
Please Note: These bugs are either inherent to NWN, or in some other way a long-standing & chronic problem. Incidental or minor bugs should not be mentioned here.
Arcane Casters are unable to scribe Undeath to Death, nor Remove Blindness/Deafness. Divine Casters are not affected.
It is no longer impossible to scribe the "Bigby" line of spells.
This is pulled from the link below, just copy pasted to make quick reference.

A good reference but most of those spells do not require components and most of those "SPECIAL AND RARE COMPONENTS" were removed years ago.
The only ones that still do I am 100% sure were default NWN - which was harm, true seeing, timestop with a
dragon's blood item.

As far as I know, Storm of Vengeance suffers the same limitation and can't be scribed, it's greyed and it does not ask for components

I've found Freeze can be made by a druid but not wiz/sorc.

I think freeze was always meant to be druid only.
Code: Select all
Freeze
Caster Level(s): Druid 6
Innate Level: 6
School: Conjuration
Descriptor(s): Cold
Component(s): Verbal, Somatic
Range: Medium
Area of Effect / Target: Single
Duration: 1 Round / Level
Additional Counter Spells: Scorching Ray
Save: Reflex Partial
Spell Resistance: Yes

I made this bug report back then:

I think it got added to the book because the .tlk file info / description stuff in game mentions both druids and wizards/sorcs now.
