Character Sheet Info

I'm finding that the character sheet is becoming less and less reliable as we make more additions to classes and abilities that don't seem to ever be represented here.

This is incredibly frustrating for me and I'm a player that usually has a good idea about what is going on mechanically. I can only imagine how terrible it would feel for a brand new player to learn that their epic level monk is biting the dust so often because the AC they thought they had was 5 less that shown.

Possible solution: when using -date, or changing area, or on equipment change, display in the combat log the following text:

Code: Select all

Actual AB: #
Actual AC: #

Would be good in particular to have some way of knowing what your actual AC is as its very hard to work out from combat logs (AB is easier as it is stated in the logs)

Other than the monk AC what else is wrong on it specifically from arelith? A lot of stuff in vanilla nwn doesn't show up on it properly either. I would love to add a -stats command, but first I'd like to see where we can try to fix things.

I'm gonna guess that the new Nature Sense on Rangers AB bonus in nature might have been part of the reason this came up. A 'true stats' breakdown command would be pretty dang cool all in all, but there's probably quite a lot to account for!

I can imagine a saves 'vs spells' and all sorts of stuff being infinitely helpful as part of a -stats command for players both new and old (for example, every now and then, I usually ask someone to physically cast a spell at my character to determine the real save I have because sometimes I do the math wrong or fail to account for something).

- Monk AC
- Size bonus AB/AC
- Svirf AC
- Swashbuckler AB/AC
- Spellsword AB/AC
- EMA AB
- Assassin Hidden Danger AB
- Rogue AB
- Earthkin Defender Iron Stance AB

There could be more, this is just a quick brainstorm. Remember that just because some people may inherently know these things from being around for however many years, new players aren't going to readily understand what does/doesn't show up on the sheet.

Leadership bonuses also don't appear to show up on character sheets. (Or, y'know, maybe I'm bad at reading, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't.)

I’ll give you monk.
Size bonus is an issue in vanilla.
Svirf and wild elf ac show up properly.
Swashbuckler shows up on it properly.
Spellsword sends a message when you equip anything.
EMA shows up on it properly.
Assassin shows up on it properly.
Rogue does except for the out of stealth bonuses which wouldn’t in vanilla.
Ekd I haven’t tested.

Again, I’m okay with making something like this, and I think it would be very beneficial, but most character sheet bugs are vanilla issues not something we caused.

EMA AB didn't show up properly up to the last time I played my spellsword. Not sure if it has been fixed recently, but I'm certain it had never shown +4 AB from EMA. 2-handed AB also doesn't show.

My swashbuckler has a difference of like 5 ab between the sheet and the log when I have multiple buffs from myself and my party, from things like divine wrath, pdk valiant stuff, cleric's Bless + Aid. I really cant say at this point what it is that isnt showing but I can see clearly there's a huge gap between the sheet and the log.

Sure, but buffs like that are an issue in vanilla nwn that has nothing to do with swashbuckler itself.

Heres one I know falls flat. The following do stack, but the sheets do not show it:

Knight Rally, DD standard and bard song. These all do indeed stack towards AB, however the sheets do not reflect it.

I wasnt saying it is a problem with swashbuckler. But whenever you add soft ab bonus to a class, it doesnt stack on the sheet with things like prayer and bard song even though it does in the log, so with every soft bonus we add to something there's a chance it will further increase the gap. I'm not sure there's anything to do about it and I'm probably being captain obvious here but I wish there was.

So I can’t do anything about the character sheet. In my first post I said I’ll add something along the line of a -stats function so that’s the direction I plan to go with this. What would be super beneficial is suggestions about what kind of information should be included on there.

I think damage immunity percentages would be helpful. As far as I know the totals not listed anywhere just that you have it.

Actual hide/ms. There are a lot of hidden debuffs in Cordor and possibly other places. Maybe actual climb too, since it shows the skill with the str mod only, not the dex mod.

I'm very hopeful that a -stats could be a real thing.

What about a breakdown of AC sources, or what types of AC you currently have?
AC:
Deflection 3
Armor 4
Dodge 3
Shield 3
Or something like that.

Maybe slightly off topic, but I would really like a way to recall the most recent spells that have been dispelled off of you. Getting hit by multiple dispels and all of it being lost in a massive combat log can be tough to sit around trying to figure out what you need to recast on yourself after the battle ends.

Attack bonus remaining till the +20 cap:
Dodge bonus remaining till the +20 cap:

Obviously if dodge bonus AC is listed separately like in the suggestion above then don't need the latter.

Maybe in the same vein as what your whole post described, -stats could list all of your active buffs from spells.

Yeah that... makes way more sense and is probably much easier to do.

If it could be sorted by spell circle would be excellent too, just so it isn't a wall of text.
1: Mage Armor
2: Bull's Strength, Cat's Grace
3:
4: Improved Invisibility
And so on. It might be overwhelming amounts of info to include all this but I'd much rather TMI on such a command than not.

So... Maybe
-stats, listing your ac / ab overall
-stats AC, giving an AC breakdown
And stuff like that? I know it's difficult to make tho.

Here's an idea, not sure how applicable it would be or how much of a nightmare to code it'd be.

Make a list of spells, you add them with -spellname

IE: -spelladd bulls -spelladd cats -spelladd mindblank -spelladd shield

When you type -spellcheck, it runs a check on you and returns all the spells you have stored in -spellname color coded. Red means it's not in effect. Green means you still got it. You get three dispells, combat log is a mess, you type -spellcheck and it returns

Bulls's strength
Cat's grace
Shield
Mind blank

Might be worth considering for when the suggestions board opens up

Rallying Cry's AB from Knight doesn't show in the character sheet.

I would like to see:

-Total current ab bonus (as it would show on the log when I attack someone).

-AC modifiers breakdown for at least Natural and Deflection - I really wish I could tell if I have Shield of Faith on me or not, from an ally. Same with Barkskin. After I get buffs from an ally I never know for sure what my Natural and Deflection values are.

-Total ac. (although this one is not as urgent, imo, as AC is showing fine afaik(?) with the expection of 5+ monk lvls).

-Physical DI% in 3 different values for every type. (should be really handy for hexblades and EkDs but again, not something I'd consider super urgent as it is not that hard to calculate DI%, as opposed to ac/ab from dozen different sources).

Over all, for me personally, I dont think -stats command would be *that* useful because the numbers I struggle with are whether or not I have barkskin on (so worst case, I've wasted a bark wand. I also sort of remember how much AC my character can reach after playing it for a while). And when I get ab buffs from my party, but they are mostly short lasting, used mostly during combat, and I can just look at my log during combat for the same info.

The dispel Class Level is not easy to determine, would be great to have it stated in such a function (great idea of a function btw ;) )
