I noticed that the -8 ab penalty for wielding weapon without the feat for it can get removed. Not sure if the penalty just temporary or something, I will try it out tomorrow, see how long it takes or if it just removed by restoration or something.

I have noticed resting with the weapon removes the penalty. This penalty is applied at equipment changes.

New spellsword meta?! (don't need switching any gear after resting as they only wear pyjamas)

Did you double check in the combat log that it wasn't just a visual problem on the character sheet?

Combat log was the one thing that drew my attention to this. Maybe it's an issue with the specific weapon? I was using a +3 scimitar with whopping d10 fire dmg bonus I found. Seemed like I could afford the ab hit for the one run for the dmg upgrade over my poor +1 sonic dmg spear.

Knowingly overcoming a scripted AB penalty in this manner seems exploitative, probably best not to do this!
