Arelith

Hello!

Etmn is a few months old as a character now and portraying her has been an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience, full of plenty of rich ups and a fair share of downs. I've found that being a villain on Arelith is not an easy experience. There's a lot to be said on this subject, but that's for another time. Here I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the people I've had the pleasure of interacting with so far.

Recently, I spent three RL weeks grinding out materials and RP to create a whole bunch of unique fixtures that I wanted to make a splash with. I even had to get their descriptions pre-approved! Of course with fixtures, there's the inevitable chance of them simply being swiped up before any impact can be made. I wanted to keep this as purely in-game effort on Etmn's behalf as much as possible and I didn't request anything from the Team, here.

However, DM Grumpycat explicitly went out of her way to offer me some help with turning my fixtures into an event.

And holy cow did she ever.

Grumpy and DM Avalon Soul both, whilst I was away, helped translate Etmn's fixtures and put on a massive and terrifying display of power in the form of a gorey, repulsive storm of blood and decayed tadpoles that rained from the skies over Guldorand. The city streets were flowing with red, the skies turned crimson, and the brave heroes of Guldorand and Myon banded together in a desperate battle to stop the horrific sacrifice magic!

Etmn herself only made a brief cameo towards the end, but nevertheless, this made her feel incredibly powerful. I truly cannot express enough in mere words just how grateful I am to GrumpyCat and Avalon Soul for going out of their way to help me transform all my effort into something more meaningful, especially since I did not explicitly request it. It really means so much to me and they deserve all the praise I can give for their talents and their efforts.

In addition to this I would like to extend some kudos out to the people that have impacted Etmn the closest so far. Please forgive me if I have forgotten some names!

Rith - Rith is special. She cleaned Etmn's nails, took her to the spa, got drunk with her, tried to show her how to relax and have fun, and went on plenty of hunts. After many perilous events - Rith and Etmn bumped into one another again in Sibayad after some time. Etmn said hi, to which she received only "Don't speak to me." This type of storyarc is both emotional and impactful, and RPing with Rith has been nothing short of amazing.

Merwyn - Merwyn is a beast of a character. She's authoritative and strange, she's comforting and kind, she's ruthless and twisted. However Etmn only knows the softer sides of Merwyn, as Etmn seems to bring this out of her. Our interactions have been few so far and I really want to see more, but thus far the quality of RP and interactions have been absolutely top.

Theodor - Theodor is so over the top and great. He parades himself around with a gigantic ego and scoffs when people haven't heard of him. But when you come across people who have, you immediately realize just how dangerous and powerful he truly is. Theodor took Etmn under his wing and has shown her a plethora of incredible powers and secrets. I really enjoy our time together and I look forward to every minute more.

Roselyn - Rose was the first one to notice Etmn. She watched her for a while, with her commanding and high chin presence. After a few moments she finally beckoned Etmn forward. And since then she too has aided Etmn to become stronger and guide her. Etmn seems to bring out a side of Rose that is also seldom seen, and the quality of RP and storytelling is magic every time.

Holly - Holly has been both a friend to Etmn and a silent enemy. Holly quickly picked up on Etmn's severe mental illness and has been taking advantage of it to create chaos, benefit herself, or simply for the sake of doing it. All unbeknownst to Etmn as she cannot understand. I wish I could get more Holly time soon as our characters together are truly a dynamic and fun blend of RP!

I have plenty more names I need to get to and write about so stay tuned.

Etmn is a deeply complex character both in lore and in person, and her portrayal is designed for a mature audience. Playing her is taxing and emotional for me personally sometimes, and I will have to take a break and catch my breath sometimes! But it's all worth it when I can actually Roleplay with the community, create impacts, and move stories.

In the mean time as Etmn continues on, thank you everyone for the opportunities to RP. I hope to continue to create exciting stories and content for others to enjoy with the power of Roleplay!

From the get go I thought Etmn was an increidbly interesting character and I was drawn to her story and wanted to learn more. I am glad that I have been able to help with her development and any guidance both ICly and OOCly. I have had an incredibly steep learning curve myself as well playing a villain for the first time ever. And I couldn't agree more that it is incredibly difficult to tell an interesting and engaging story as a villain with the intent to ensure everyone has fun and with minimal/no PVP.

Playing a villain can be emotionally truly taxing both because you have to be someone you are absolutely not IRL and possibly have to go against your own values by being mean/cruel to people when you're not that way inclined, but also because there is always a chance some people may not enjoy what you're trying to do. And when you care a lot about that, it's always difficult to hear even if only 1 out of 10 people doesn't enjoy your stories.

But at the end of the day I think having opposite alignments and letting both player sides tell cool and compelling stories is what makes this server so unique and so alive.

For only having played a short time, I think you've already managed to have a big impact with the stories you've tried to tell.

What an unexpected and awful (for our characters) experience! ^_^ Being a villain can be a challenge, like D4wN said, but keep it up. Arelith needs instigators like you to keep things interesting.

You handle the evil playstyle very well. Deranged, while keeping her very human. You can feel the reasons for what she does- even if she doesn't outright say it and that's really important. Her artistry and backstory as well a strange mix of sympathetic and twisted circumstance. I've greatly enjoyed watching her chug along in the role that I have, even though I do wish we could get more time together. Kudos to you.

I love Etmn so much. I am really proud of you for working hard to put yourself out there. Even though you're still new to it, it shows great initiative. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you do!

I do not make forum posts often but I wanted to say this.

I'm very glad that Rith was able to make such an impact on Etmn's Story thus far, and I share the same views on our RP together, even after the fateful day where once friends became sworn enemy's, and she told Etmn to not speak to her anymore, we still continue to have amazing Roleplay together, even if it isn't as directly as it used to be, I look forward to the Roleplay to come and to respond to what you lay out and create, and hope to remain a part of it on the other side of the fence, keep up the amazing work!

Your efforts led to some very widespread RP, bringing people to Guldorand from across all the servers.
