More of an aesthetic feedback, but I would request naming it "Ancient Weapon Proficiency" or similar. "Primitive" is a bit of a loaded word in this context.

I just noticed that the primitive weapon proficiency is a lot of medium and large a weapons that applies to a lot of small races. Not sure if this was intended or not.

Noticed this also. It's strange and seemingly counterproductive with how it goes large to medium then a huge jump to tiny.

I couldn't disagree more. I don't think language policing has any place in games, or anywhere really.

While I could understand one take on what you mean but the word primitive does not mean something is inferior, incapable, bad, or whatever.

Primitive in the case of objects indicates are very simple level of technology needed to produce or use them. All of the weapons in there are associated with those races (and may eventually be associated with backgrounds) as a way to work as both racial proficiencies and regional weaponry.

Ancient doesn't work because these weapons are not necessarily "old" or "timeless" and calling them things like "crude weapons" or lumping them into simple doesn't really work either as they are in some cases not very simple (thus why they can also be found in exotic or other classes' proficiencies).

Some weapons which are also primitive are covered inside simple so they don't need to do double duty as you'll end up with access to them anyway.

But I would not read "primitive" with a loaded background. Its more the usage of this.

On the language note- if we’re going to start bleeding language policing into our video games, it would be appropriate to at least be accurate. The Aztecs utilized some of these weapons well into the classic and post classic eras. Just because a civilization was primitive compared to Europeans doesn’t mean anything other than that. There’s nothing “ancient” about these weapons, in fact there’s a decent argument for them to be considerably more “modern” in era than most weapon categories. If we’re going to change them from primitive, it should be “Classical Mesoamerican Proficiency” lmfao.

Remember when you played on a server that actively supports slavery roleplay? It’s a game, and it’s roleplay. There’s nothing “loaded” about the word primitive in the context it’s being used.

Language policing is a loaded term that will sour this thread. The op offered reasonable feed back but it is clear that an adult conversation about what word to use is too much to ask. I'd suggest a lock before this gets out of control.

I am locking this thread before things get out of hand, I think clear points for the actual topic have already been delivered.
