Alignment Shifts for murder

servere alignment shifts for obvious evil actions such as murder and assualt
it is an act of evil to murder or kill or attack someone over a perceived slight in-game such as two characters arguing and one demanding the other must make amends or be instantly killed when one player is non-combative.
an argument is not justification for murdering/attacking someone as a good-aligned pc. Tabletop rp convention would have the DM adjusting alignment.
It is too easy for good players to justify murder hobo mentality with zero consequences. Why even play evil characters at all? I didn't know this was a thing on this server it's when I encounter this I leave a server. If the alignment and actions or even guilt doesn't matter what's the point of playing the game?
This kind of act is outlined as evil in multiple sourcebooks as well as criminal law in real life, and foundational ethics of multiple cultures.
If the alignment does not matter why do we have it?
