Ship sink script change?

Did the rules for when a ship gets sunk change? I had read it loses a tier of each upgrade and is unusable until next reset when a ship sinks. Last night I took the small underdark ship out and bit off more than I could chew and when I logged on today it had lost every upgrade. Am I completely rebuilding now or was this a glitch?
Reproduce: Get in ship. Fit out with ballista's. Fight bigger ship and get sunk.
Expected: Wait a day and lose a tier of each upgrade
What actually happens: Lose all upgrades
No screen shots or additional data.

Was this a rental ship?

I would guess its the 'constant companion' from the description of 'small underdark ship'.

A bug caused this, should be fixed for next reset.

Wooo thanks! Thats way better than rebuilding a whole ship lol
