Hey there! :)

Sorry for this click-bait title, but had to use it because it states clearly the effect of this change for me …

First, I want to say Sincra has made too many good QOL changes around for me to be mad at him about this. I’m sure he had good reasons for it (although to be honest in this case I never experienced any particular difficulty before, but I guess others have). I just felt I had to express the result of this change for me as I'm sure it wasn't the intent. ;)

I’ll try to explain precisely what I mean by this title. Basically, I’ve always considered scrolls to be way more than sellable loot, some kind of real pieces of treasure. Some I can use frequently. Some I need on rare but useful occasions, in adventures or even for crafting purposes. And some are valuable to others, which can be a nice opportunity to make gifts, or trades, or whatever PC relationship content. I say pieces of treasure because sure you can buy some basic scrolls from a vendor, but lot of scrolls are loot (the kind you actually find in a treasure chest), or buy from a scribe only. And clearly, it’s not that easy to have any kind of scrolls made on demand, because of caster diversity and players availability. To buy some of those scrolls would mean something concerning a character in this setup, so one wouldn’t go buying all kind of scrolls to anyone (plus some scrolls you’ll buy from a PC will cost way more than even the best appraiser would get from the same scroll to a vendor). And for someone like me who discovered NWN almost at the same time he started Arelith (2 years ago in my case), these scrolls are also the opportunity to slowly but surely familiarize himself with the great diversity of spells in this game.

So, naturally, scrolls I use often would be in my inventory. But scrolls I’d keep for any other purpose would go in my scroll case, and I would take them out only when I need them, because inventory management off course (and this had been made wayyy easier thanks to the alphabetical order implemented ;-) ).
I’ll be honest; it’s been very long I had not sold any scroll to a vendor, and even longer directly from a case. I did it on my first char, but basically when you have the kind of interest I explained, it means to keep 2 cases, and a lot of sorting out the cases (you never know where auto Loot will put the scrolls), which is long and very unfun. Plus you’d have to ideally put the “I want to keep those” case in storage at times because otherwise it’d be too dangerous to use the option “sell from case”, for obvious reasons …
After spending an hour to sort the scrolls from my case to put them in another case, hoping to keep my little treasures, I realized this: A management of this kind for me is so heavy I’m not sure I’ll be able to continue to use a scroll case like the treasure container it has been for me. I’ll simply keep bare minimum scrolls in my inventory (even that part is huge retreat in QOL … So many different kind of scrolls that I’m forced to have them go through a scroll case or they won’t stack, and I’ll have to take em out way more frequently, as 400 is so low I think my treasure scroll case is close to that point already), and the rest will constantly go to the vendor, thus transforming my little treasures into base grinding material, like the ones that go in a Jewelry Box.
Again, I am sure there were reasons behind this choice, and I hope they bring a lot to others, since it literally made me cry out loud. :sob:

TL;DR: 400 scrolls limit change has turned my Scroll Case into a bag of coin.

In any case (Jewelry or Scroll ones  ), thanks for your work, and your time. Love you guys

This is not a change I wanted to necessarily make but had to due to people repeatedly losing access to all their scrolls.
Cases and Containers:
Due to an issue with excessive items being stored resulting in either the contents of a container being inaccessible or outright deleted, we are introducing a four hundred (400) individual scrolls limit to scroll cases.
This will not retroactively impact containers, so anything over this amount will remain as such until four hundred (400) new items are added or you take out four hundred (400) and re-add them.

As it is recognised this may seem inconvenient I have put in some automation, it will take whatever it can from a stack and store it, then notify you to being at capacity. This means you will NOT have to manually split the stacks.
To discover the limit, I had a broken case examined and counted the scrolls inside, this amounted to just over 500 scrolls, this was therefore a very visible boundary limit.

To better test if this was the issue I elected to apply 400. This may increase towards 500 but will not exceed it during testing.

If it turns out this was not the cause the limit will be removed and I will address the root problem.
