Item loses properties after appearance changing

I bought a ten foot pole from the peddler in Cordor and it appeared with the normal +5 disable device, +5 search, +5 perform

After customizing the appearance to my liking, it no longer shows +5 perform. Ll

Peddlers are not meant to have old versions and these need to be removed.
