Random Encounter Idea: UD Raid

An idea for the random encounters system.
In areas near the entrances to the UD, let there be a chance to spawn a small squad(up to six) of epic level underdark raiders(drow, duergar, gnoll, etc...homogenous racial parties or mixed). Random chance, naturally, but have it trigger only at night. And do not trigger it on any native UD character roaming the surface(they should know their own).
There are taverns all over the surface, perhaps making traveling at night more dangerous will encourage less night travel and more grouping. Stay a while, have a drink, make some friends, or, for the daring, brave the dark roads with a torch and a steel nerve.
