Casting elemental weapon on a minion (in this case a Mordenkainen's Disjunction sword-bot, who holds an unenchanted greatsword) works - but doesn't seem to give any extra damage. The spell is completed, the sword becomes engulfed in fire, but sword attacks don't do any additional fire damage.

Steps to reproduce

See above. I've noticed it both out in the wild, and also tested it up the Dueling Grounds of the Arcane Tower. On the spell reflect dummies and the illusory foe.

It's due to the on hit effect not firing on summons this has been reported a few times seems there isn't a good work around or it's just not a priority.

It is also hit by the GMW debuff so if you cast it on a lower level character it uses there level to alter the spell effect.
Only use for it now is to make the summons sword look cool enjoy.

Hmm, I'm not sure it never ever works on summons. Before I had my Mord's-knight I had a tyrantfog zombie and then a zombie warrior, and Elemental Weapon fine for them. I could see it dealing fire damage to enemies when my zombies attacked.

Maybe it's related to weapon type or type of weapon damage. Tyrantfog zombie has a mace iirc while the greatsword is obviously slashing dmg.

I have an idea for a fix, will have a closer look this week.
