Reading their description in lore it seems a bit odd they get penalty to charisma. I think +2 Cha -2 Wis would be a more accurate representation of how they are described in the lore. (Also please don't apply such a change retroactively it'd break my character. Thanks)

Agreed.

Although I assume the stats were decided while mindful of the dominance of CHA-based classes. Which I understand, even if I disagree with that - simply because I'm one of those dirty dirty RP-builders who prefer lore over balance. I'd prefer if all genasi were limited to Greater awards, if that made it any easier to give fire genasi the CHA they rightly deserve.

Yea. This is meant to represent Fire Genasi having an 'impatient and quick to anger' personality in the source material. Like fire, they flare up harshly when poked.

Force of personality is associated with charisma. Self-discipline is associated with wisdom. The fact that they traditionally lack the discipline to control their emotions suggests to me an overwhelming force of personality that they don't have the wisdom to moderate.

Interesting that the charisma penalty is supported by source material, though. Didn't actually know that!

To clarify, I wasn't making stuff up there. That is the literal description of why fire genasi have lowered charisma, straight from the sourcebook.

I do agree with Magistrasa, emotional control, patience etc. is something I associate with wisdom rather than charisma.

Hot-headedness and impatience is a pretty consistent theme with intelligent, but arrogant wizards -- red wizards especially. And as a considerably unattractive trait, it certainly would make someone appear less charismatic. Passionate people aren't always the most charismatic. Half-orcs, for example, are quite passionate.

If one really want to get a invoker/pal fire genasi, it is 2 point stat, sacrifice of other stat will make it work.

I am attempting to build a fire genasi and yes, it is a lot of pain to try to get the char based character work

Same with other genasi, the stat is telling you they’ll do better as something else...like mine is telling me he want to be a spellsword so bad but I kept denying that

I suppose their outlandish look and temper are not beneficial for winning trust.

It's fine as is in my opinion.
