Recently we’ve had a bunch of updates announced on discord without being put into update announcements here on the forums. It’s confusing because we can’t be sure what is or isn’t in the game, which information is correct, or when it is intended to be there.

Some notes are really obscure, others go into huge detail, and others sit in this grey area of kind of explaining the gist and then referring to spreadsheets.

Can we get updates announced all at once? Whatever is announced on discord, put it in announcements on the forums at the same time.

That's an excellent remark actually (I'm not on Discord, but will go there if it's required).

I just logged on the PGCC for the first time ever today (hey, I expect encouragements ! ), and noticed some discrepancies between some sub-race templates vs. what is written on the Arelith wiki (old tarts rely on the Wiki, true fact).

We all totally get it that it is unmanageable those Wiki/Discord/forums items to be updated at the same time in any sensible manner, it just can't. May I suggest some kind of "priority-this is the Law" channel ?

Irongron touched on this about a year ago. In my opinion it's due to the fact that contributors work on their projects at their own pace. This leads to uneven, uncoordinated releases. In turn, the contributors post their updates on the most convenient medium - Discord.

There should be a single person who frequents the forums and Discord that has permission to post in the Announcements thread. Contributors can and should continue to post in Discord while this single person ensures the updates are relayed onto the forums. The person could also format the updates on the forums to have a consistent, uniform appearance for easier readability.

This is our usual workflow, but sometimes things get missed. If so, let people you've seen posting forum announcements know, so we can fix it.

I think its been said before, but maybe the dev work should be coordinated and have releases come all at the same time.


This is done in proffessional settings often, things done wait for a release of bug fixes/features


A release of all things once a month would make it easier to do updates on the forums as well as give players something solid to hild on to, as it is as a player we are sort of in rough waters, every wave a new update that we dont know if it would rock the boat or tip it over

Knowing when the wave is coming might make people better prepared for changes

I noticed the same thing.

When I started to hear about huge weapons, a pile of new weapons, updates to summons, and a bunch of other things from others...I was scratching my head since there was no update.

I do not like the discord style of information flow, since I do not hang out on it constantly (I like forums so I can peek at the title of topics to see what sounds interesting instead of digging through literally hundreds of posts of fluff for occasional nuggets). However, the subsection for announcements is concise and I am going to start just looking there regularly to keep up to date.

This has been said time and time again.

Developers want their stuff known. They can’t post it on the announcement thread. It eventually gets posted on both places.

If you don’t wait to wait til 6 for you news of the day, then you check elsewhere. This isn’t really any different.

Additionally, the “update day” is not a good method for a place where things happen independently and at different time zones. The players heavily prefer the current method according to the latest poll.

Website development project idea time!

Idea 1: When opening the update thread, instead load a bunch of posts from Discord. So the announcement thread basically becomes a feed into the Discord announcement channel.

Idea 2: If you can't get the posts using the Discord API, invert the process: when an update is posted on the forums, it mirrors the post automatically to Discord in a channel that can't be posted to manually.

Either way, you're left with one source of truth rather than two and no need to mirror things.
