Shadovar looking jaundiced instead of pale

attempted to make a shadovar with a similar coloring that is seen at the trade post, and once selected with the award it defaulted out to this sickly pale yellow color for the skin.
why was this color chosen as the default?
pale greys make more sense if there is a default since they are from the shadow plane not the malaria swamp.
