Anyone who sails usually brings hardwood and softwood from permanent storage below decks and puts it in temporary storage on deck so you can repair damage from battle or storms. With resets, you have a chance to grab it and put it back in permanent storage, with crashes you just lose it every time. It has gotten to the point of OOC, since you are daily having to buy wood, if any is in stock, or deforest the lands.

Is there any way that a permanent storage container can be put on the decks of all ships that can hold only 2 items? A stack of each hardwood and softwood?

By limiting it to 2, I do not think it would be very exploitable.
