Instant Ability like Charge, Whirling Attack kill blows cannot trigger cleave. Haven't checked other instant abilities but I think they use same logic

Steps to reproduce

Kill some mob with Whirling Attack or Spirit Charge ON.

Expected result
-----------------------
Trigger Cleave/Great Cleave.

Not triggered.

I haven't played a cavalier in a while. Does the damage from spirit charge come after the actual the main damage line, or is it combined?

If so, what you'll see is a damage value show up on one line then another damage value after that. If this is the case, this is working as intended; cleave will only trigger if the death occurs from fatal damage applied by the 'weapon' itself.

Code wise maybe you are right about the extra Charge damage cannot trigger Cleave since it's not from weapon itself, but mechanically I think Charge shall be able to trigger cleave, thus I report it for dev to judge.

Updated topic as it's not only Charge not work with Cleave, all instant abilities won't work with Cleave.

Instant attacks were made to look and feel like regular melee attacks while actually being an entirely independent feature.
They cannot trigger cleave and similar abilities for this reason.
