Fishing Feedback

Been engaging with the new fishing system lately, and greatly enjoying myself, but there's a few rough edges I've bumped into.
  • Most fishing gear craftables aren't godsave-eligible due to their low item value, despite the fact that many of them are made from valuable materials. The Amber Tackle Box, Fisherman's Waders, and Reinforced Fishing Rod stand out here.
  • On the subject of materials, why does a simple wood tackle box need a lesser catalyst? None of the other "basic" containers require anything nearly that expensive. This seems like a rather arbitrary inclusion that doesn't do much but make fishing harder to access for newer characters.
  • Fishing biomes! Love the idea. Could use a little more transparency as you what biome you're actually in. Maybe shown in the fishing spot description, or using -investigate? Since many fish show up in multiple biomes, it's nigh-on impossible to figure out what biome you're actually in without some extremely tedious research and note-taking. Which, like, I'll do because I don't actually hate tedious stuff, but also I don't love it so much that I'd object to it being made a bit easier.
  • Sencliff direly needs fishing spots.

1. I think once you apply the first dwerocraft, god's save would work on them. Though I didn't triggered a god's save at my try.
2. Agreed. The tackle box seems somewhat useless, considering its material , it doesn't deserve it. For now, I can only store baits and hooks inside, which can hardly take 4 grids of inventory unless you are using huge baits. Should make it more useful. Though I understand it would remove magic from tackles and fishermen complain about that.
3. You can check fishing biomes by -area. It also tell you if you can find a fishing spot in a area,
4. There is one fishing spot in Sencliff, also you can fishing on ships with -ship

1 - I'm more talking about crafting the item in the first place. My understanding is that craft godsaves don't trigger if the value is too low.
3 - Very good to know, thank you!
4 - Guess I need to go through Sencliff with a finer-toothed comb! I haven't had the opportunity to go sailing yet, only been doing shore fishing thus far.

Another thing that's been kinda odd is that none of the fish (aside from the old generic Fish, Lunker, and Scarfinned Flatfish) have any value, so can't be sold, nor do they interact with the settlement resource system. Which means that, unless you hoard everything for eventual use in meals, you end up with a ton of waste.

Mostly, food just don't values. From sail hunting, fishing, or just hunt normally.I would say you may earn more gold by selling huge baits to players or bugs to peddlers

Oh sure, I'm not expecting to make a ton of gold off of it, but most things in the game have at least some value, even if only 1gp. As it stands, a broken tankard I pulled out of a crate is more valuable than any fish I catch. I can't even sell/donate the fish to a settlement as food, so I just end up taking the guts and throwing the rest away unless it's something I specifically need.

I'm planning some stuff which will enliven the fish economy somewhat. It's just a matter of effort. Thank you for the feedback though. I appreciate it.

You can't donate the fish to the settlement but you can gut them and sell/donate the meat to the settlement so there is at least something.

Also since it was briefly mentioned, there are several places still it would be great to see a fishing spot or two added!

More spots would be great. If there are any existing spots with a singular fishing interaction node, giving them 1 or 2 more in the same location for fishing groups could be neat too.
