Ghostwise Halflings

They feel a little boring and are just a straight reskin of a lightfoot halfling with no mechanical alterations from their base race. I know the "point" of award races isn't to make them mechanically more powerful, but there are two other minor award races that feel directly comparable:
1. Forest Gnomes -
Relative to their base race, they gain an unteachable bonus language (Animal), the ability to craft Armor of the Wilds, and [some tracking cookies.
2. Wild Dwarf -
Relative to their base race, they gain +1 saves vs poisons and +4 saves vs diseases, primitive weapon proficiency, fire damage immunity, some tracking cookies, and the ability to craft Armor of the Wilds.
Even something as minor as being able to craft Armor of the Wilds on a Ghostwise Halfling (which feels thematically fitting as one of the "wild" subrace variants) would go a long way towards making them stand out a little bit from the other halflings.

The big thing for a Ghostwise Halfling is supposed to be a limited form of telepathic communication, but due to issues relating to such, it's not implemented.
I agree that they could use a cookie or two to justify their existence; being able to make Armor of the Wilds, yes, agreed. Perhaps a bigger bonus to hide and MS, or SF Illusion, or even the ability to use shadow doors? I don't know.
Also, Wild Dwarves have a HUGE bonus, in that they're a small race with no strength penalty. That alone makes them excellent.

Just give Ghostwise Halflings all the wild racial things? Primitive weapons. Tracking cookies. Recipes. That kinda stuff? Seems to fit.

They actually get primitive weapons and have tracking related bonuses. The tracking stuff was listed in the update but it’s not on the wiki.

Would it be totally insane to give them some kinda -send_message type of deal, that only prints the message to a player's console, and only works with other ghostwise halflings? That would be kinda cool.
I've given this like 2 seconds of thought, so probably not.

I thought this before! I'm sure it would be doable and a good idea, just needs someone to implement it. It'd be a nice niche bonus.

The main issue with that particular implementation (which I do like) is it doesn't really fit the lore that they have telepathy out to a short distance with any race they want to talk with.
I wonder if there is a way to make it so that they get an upgraded whisper.
Something like... When in a party their whisper is only heard by party members. Or when in a party their whisper is heard at double range by party members.
That way it isn't as powerful as a free send image, more unique than just a free send image (gnomes are half way to a free one already, afterall, so why wouldn't they get it?) while being more lore friendly, that it's a smaller area but more available.
