I'm playing a Claddath Hemomancer, and Mother is not a selectable deity, even with the gift of devotion. Mother is under Eldritch deities, and therefore only selectable by warlock, heckblade, and I think blackguard. This is extremely limiting for class selection. I understand the reason for limiting the deity, but I feel like it should be opened up to at least allow drow nobles with gift of devotion. This is still pretty limiting, but it would at least allow characters who in lore should be worshipping the deity to be able to select it without severely limiting their class choices. For comparison, the Freth heresy afaik is selectable by any evil without requiring a gift.

I'm not really sure if this should be in bugs or suggestions, so I put it here but please move it if applicable.

What does the gift of devotion do? Off the top of my head, I can't recall

Per the wiki:

Allows non-cleric to hold ceremonies and to consecrate/desecrate altars.
Allows character to ignore deity race restrictions.

Entitles the character to piety gains per in-game hour as clerics receive.

Gift still requires cleric alignment restrictions.

(Though I have noticed that the Gift of Devotion will allow a Paladin of a CG god - e.g. Sune, Sehanine - to ignore the alignment restriction, which seems reasonable to me.)

Gift of Devotion allows you to ignore Racial Requirements for deities, and allows non-clerics to bless altars to their deity.

It doesn't effect class requirements at all, at least not that I could find, It exists purely to bypass racial requirements for deities, as per the person that revamped it. Who apparently wanted to tax clerics's gifts to be able to worship deities they were already worshipping when they decided to overhaul the system.

It's why Kobolds aren't allowed to worship draconic deities anymore as clerics, unless they waste a gift on it that basically has no functionality for them.

Gift of Devotion is for Heresies, not Eldritch Patrons, so it shouldn't really factor in at all.

However, I would agree that an exception should be made for ᴍᴏᴛʜᴇʀ in some fashion. Likely drow noble.

Can you Attune to ᴍᴏᴛʜᴇʀ at all, or is that still locked?

I can attune. I talked to Kalo about it the other day and she had the idea to just add a check for lastName = "Claddath" and allow it, which is a really good solution I think.
